Ascendancy Trials... Am I crazy?
The trials in PoE2 were definitely poorly thought out, let me try to explain why. Every build in PoE is based on Ascendancy Points. It doesn't matter if you're a newbie or the most experienced player in the world; you will ALWAYS base your build on Ascendancy Points within the game. What does this mean? It means that Ascendancy content is MANDATORY content that everyone – whether a newbie or the most experienced player – will have to complete. This means that the mechanic for obtaining Ascendancy Points needs to be of MEDIUM difficulty (like in PoE1). Basically, mandatory content needs to have medium difficulty mechanics, and optional content (endgame farm, etc.) should give you the option to scale the difficulty to the highest level. In the current state of the game, what's happening is the opposite: the mechanics of mandatory content are the hardest in the game, and it shouldn't be that way. In PoE1, to get Ascendancy Points, you need to complete the labyrinth, and the difficulties of the 4 levels are relatively moderate. Any newbie player can complete the 4 labyrinths with a few tries (and it needs to be this way because it's MANDATORY content). The way to get Ascendancy Points in PoE2 makes absolutely NO SENSE. It's boring, extremely difficult, and demotivating.
From the first day of Early Access until today, I still haven't managed to get the third Ascendancy Point on any character (I'm on my third character). The game overall is incredibly good, but it gave me the worst experience I've ever had playing a melee character (slam)... and the Ascendancy trials were probably the worst experience I've had in any game... Totally agree with you. Traps deal insane damage to honour bar and end up early before encounter boss room. And I dont know why thay put Honour system here while Poe 1 doesn't.

it's easeIy soIve when you have honour resistance and a IittIe bit of patience. for the chaos, i find it crazy that you have to make it 3 times to fight the boss. you can buy the piece for it atIeast but his Ioot is...weII, bad.
yeah, it's time consumming, Iesser if you got the merchant reIic setup on sekhemas but it get nerfed and it's costIy. otherwise it's a good aIternative to farm thing iIvI 82, a great way to dodge tedious mapping. But if you don't Iike it, yeah you are screwed. |

Obtaining tokens and level tune is absurd...
you can get 3rd ascendency trials lvl65. yet I managed to beat the 3rd trial lvl82 saving a lvl 71 token. Before that I just got my arse kicked so I decided to overpower it. A lvl65 trial should be obtainable for a lvl65 character. But its unlikely you get 75% honor cap. I had like 2 Djinn token before lvl65 so didn't even had any chance to get relics. The 4th ascendency point is still waiting. I honestly don't have the willpower to do a 1-2 hour tryout. Its not even the difficulty, its the punishment level that escalates. My last 3 attempt was: I am lvl84-86, doing T15 maps And attempt a lvl75 trial Floor1-2: easy. Floor3: unless I get some "better luck next try" mod, its done Floor4: Lets say even with full honor, dozens of boons my honor bar gets oneshotted like a t15 map. You just walk, suddenly your character screams and you can click on the respawn button. Hp is full, your 4k honor just got wiped off. " Yeah, once you are lvl 85+ floor 1-3 are a huge waste of time. They are just there for you to accumulate boons/afflictions. Floor boss 1-3 die in a few seconds even with off-meta builds. But floor 4 white mobs can one-shot you for some reason. The whole place needs some re-tuning. |

Current Ascendancies are bs because the difficulty is entirely dependant on what you play. Couldn't get my 4th with glass cannon huntress due to skill issue. Regained my skill simply by playing Lich and all 4 ascendancies were a walk in the park.

The first 2 points are Easy difficulty, the 3rd is medium, 4th is hard. If you think they are ALL hard? it's a skill issue.

I complain, a lot. But I played anyways, trying desperately to find some fun, Trial of Suckmyass made me so frustrated, I logged off in anger. That is what they are going for these days, PoE2 is an exercise in frustration. Every aspect of this game is now just frustrating. Loot, campaign, endgame, trials, even trading, all nothing but frustration.

There's a reason even the most hardcore of rougelikes make a single run 20 min at most. Because otherwise dying to bad RNG at the end of the run feels like too much of a loss and players stop playing the game. This takes ~40 with a character specifically optimized for it and there is literally no instant run winners in the mod pool, yet there are several instant run enders.
