Host can't progress after guest talks to Alva first – Alva appears in wrong location

Hi GGG team,

We encountered a bug during co-op play in Path of Exile 2 (Act 3) related to Alva and the Kopec Temple.

In our party, I was not the host. I (the guest) interacted with Alva before the host could. After the conversation, I was able to proceed with the quest and enter the Kopec Temple without issue.

However, on the host’s side, Alva remained on the map but appeared in the wrong location — she was standing above the Treasure Hunter’s Camp, rather than below where she normally should be. As a result, the host could not interact with her properly or progress the quest.

We tried restarting the game, switching host/guest roles, and re-entering the zone, but none of these resolved the issue.

It seems that when the guest interacts with Alva first, the quest state is only updated for them, and the host gets stuck with an incorrect state or NPC position. Please look into this – especially how quest triggers are assigned in multiplayer.

We encountered and eventually resolved a co-op quest progression issue related to Alva in Act 3, near the Kopec Temple.

Here’s what happened:

I was the guest, and I interacted with Alva before the host.

I was able to progress and enter the Kopec Temple normally.

However, the host could not proceed — Alva remained on the map but was positioned above the Treasure Hunter’s Camp, instead of her normal location below it.

The host could not interact with her or receive quest items like the idol, even after re-entering the zone and defeating the boss again. Nothing dropped.

We tried:

Switching host/guest roles

Resetting the instance

Restarting the game

Re-killing the boss

None of those worked.

However, after exiting the game and waiting a while, I (the guest) started a new session as the host, and invited the other player. When we re-entered the area, Alva had returned to her correct position below the Treasure Hunter's Camp, and the host was finally able to interact with her and proceed. The issue was resolved this way.

It seems like the quest state was corrected by:

Switching who was the host

Restarting the game

Letting some time pass between sessions
