Remove Defences And Defence Modifiers From POE2
It sounds like a lot of people are using things like +life, +energy shield, +armour, and so on to scale the amount of life they have.
It sounds like it's not a desired part of the design of the game to have players be too tanky. It sounds like the developers feel that being tanky is more dangerous to the balance of the game, than having a very large amount of DPS and damage - so much in fact that you can one-shot a boss. So just remove defence modifiers. This would include all armour stats on items, energy shield stats, evasion, +life, +energy shield, and so on. I suggest we replace them with, every player has 100 life. Small enemies only do 10 damage with all of their attacks, and larger enemies might do 40, 50 and 100 if they use their special ability. Now, scaling boss damage will be much easier. Now, every player will be on the same playing field and it'll be MUCH easier to make sure that every boss does about the same amount of damage, and it will become a truly skill-based game. Finally, players WILL have to engage with the boss mechanics, all of them, all the time, because if you don't, well, there's not going to be any buffer to save you. On one hand, I agree, since Life, Armor and arguably Evasion, are in such a bad spot they may as well not exist at all.
On the other hand, ES and Block feel like they might actually keep you alive for 2 seconds. I really don't understand why they're so allergic to defenses. I thought the one shots in PoE1 were to counter players with 2k life regen, life leech, or ES leech, but PoE2 barely has any recovery outside of ES and life flasks, yet one shots exist just the same and probably in an even worse state. So yeah, I agree, either remove defenses outright and balance damage around not having them, or rework them so they're actually doing something. |

" barely any reco? gain % on kill will recover all you hp in an instant. they could 100% fix this problem by removing this from the game but they choose not to, because they will have to remove most of their 'content'. can you guess what content i'm talking about here? |

sorry, never.
that's intentionally polution to modifer pool by GGG, which can increase the difficulty of equipment crafting. so players have to use more currency to get what they want. for example: modifiers like "leeches * from physical damage". no weapon use it now, but these modifers exist and have a big weight in modifer pool. |

I do not endorse or support this idea at all. There are major issues with defences right now, but removing them is not the answer.
