What in the world were you guys thinking with this [Removed by Support]? It feels like a bastardized version of Diablo 3 mixed in with Dark Souls and Elden Ring, and it doesn't even do that right. [Removed by Support]
That is not to say that the game is a total loss. The framework, unlike Diablo 3 and Diablo 4, can be salvaged, but it will require removing key features that currently make the game work, namely the checkpoint system and the 'you are definitely going to die' mentality. The checkpoint system makes no sense, especially with unlimited portals (another dumb idea stolen from Diablo 3), and the fact that harder content only currently allows one attempt anyway. Then there is is the endgame atlas...or, should I say, Delve. If I'm being totally honest, Delve in PoE1 was my least played mechanic because it was time consuming, endless, and pointless. The same can be said for the PoE2 'endgame': Completely pointless and unfulfilling. There is no sense of accomplishment whatsoever. I can understand putting the delve strategy in for the endgame during early access to buy some time for the real meat and potatoes, but if this is what we are getting with the finished product, then you may as well throw in the towel and start handing out those pink slips because it sucks. It really, really sucks. It's worse than Diablo 4, and I hope you don't wear that as a badge of honor. What is the point of the well in towns and in the hideout? Can't you just immediately get a refill on entering town? Again, these pointless, stupid mechanics hurt the game. What is the point of a dodge-roll, if it doesn't dodge, and moves at the same speed as your current movement speed? Again, dumb. Charms are a dumb mechanic. Delete. Why are the loading screens so terrible in the campaign, especially when going to town? Does anyone at GGG know how to optimize code, or are they relying on the horsepower of current generation video cards and SSD speeds? If the latter, shame on you. No wonder you can't keep a steady player base - everyone is tired of waiting for the damn loading screens, me especially! Out of the many gripes I have with the game, this would be at the top. Fix this - I don't care how you do it, just make sure that you do. Why is the loot so bad? Why are you using the same loot table as PoE1, when PoE1 never solved the loot problem either? People want to see valuables drop on the ground...not just bland currency to craft with, and an endless supply of magic and rare items that never have any good rolls on them to warrant picking up. Diablo 2 solved this issue with set items, runewords, and small charms. This is the way. While set items may never be as powerful as crafted gear, it could potentially be just as good, if not better, with interesting corruptions and skill interactions. Set items would be underpowered gear with no downsides, unlike uniques, and would be perfect to get through the campaign, and possibly beyond. An interesting take on runeworded gear would be you would need to find x amount of the same uniques, let's say 60, in this case, which would then turn into a superior version of that unique, which then can be 'runed', meaning you can put all sorts of interesting interactions on superior gear. This would solve the issue of useless uniques that end up being vendored, or not even picked up at all. This fixes the loot issue in one go. Do it. The currency exchange is a joke, and a really bad idea because it allows scalpers and market manipulators to cause unwarranted (and unwanted) inflation. The correct way to do it is an auction house, similar to Guild Wars 2, where the price of currency and items is determined by the server. When there is excess supply, the price goes up to get the supply down to nominal levels. Again, the server determines the price, not the players. This fixes the runaway inflation issue, and allows inflation to happen, but allows prices to fluxuate throughout the league - meaning, it's very possible that prices could go back down to where they started at the beginning, based on the flow of currency on the server. PoE2 desperately needs an item auction house - and this could be implemented by creating a special tab that is for the auction house only. If a valuable item is put into the auction house tab, it cannot be removed or modified for 48 hours after the player puts a price in. The server then grays out the item, and will deliver it to the player who bought it, via the auction house interface. The auction house is not intended to be used for ALL items, just the really worthwhile ones which are determined by the player. All the other items, like low level uniques, etc, would need to purchased the traditional way. By doing it this way, the server won't get taxed from over-usage. All of these are suggestions, of course, but really good ones. If they are not implemented, or something similar, then PoE2 is DOA, and, in turn, will be the cause of the death of PoE1, which was a flawed, but really great ARPG, unlike PoE2 which is just flat out flawed. " Charms replacing utility flasks is terrible. Charms have zero player agency. Cannot decide when/if to use a Charm. Cannot trigger a charm before a hit. The POE2 charm system completely sucks compared to POE1's Utility Flask system. |
