Something wrong with rune drops?

Just finished the campaign after patch 0.0.2g, and here are the rune drops I ended up with:

So now we have different tiers of runes, which seems to suggest we should start using them early, since the lesser ones stop dropping relatively quickly during the campaign. But now they just do not drop at all? Can someone please explain the logic behind this? I genuinely do not understand. Also, I benched every socketed item I picked up, and by the end of the campaign, I had only 12 orbs. So even if runes would drop I would run out of socket orbs.

It is the same story with essences and almost every other crafting system in the game. The mechanics exist, but they are so arbitrarily scarce that they are functionally useless until you are already far into the endgame. How are we supposed to engage with crafting when there are no essences, no runes, and no meaningful tools early on?

I am just entering the endgame now, and I have no resources to address basic problems like resistances and damage. I am left hoping something useful drops randomly. Crafting simply does not exist until you are deep into the endgame, and that makes for a really frustrating experience. I was hoping SSF with 0.0.2g would be somewhat a functional experience but I guess I will have to swap to trade and with 10 ex max purchase all I need until t15 maps. So depressing.

It's possible they need to recheck the drop table, they used to drop a lot but since they did a couple of changes and added new runes drops are more deluted and have overall decreased.

Yes and I can confirm this, unless you and I are both very unlucky.

I've started playing SSF a couple days ago. Today I played around 5 hours and I haven't seen a single rune drop for resistances and I'm doing T9 maps...

I really need fire resistance but nothing will drop.
