Boss map bug

While doing a waystone with a boss I died mid breach and when i respawned all the content had been removed from the map aside from the boss. I had discovered the checkpoint for the boss arena, but I didnt enter to clear the rest of the map first. I thought this mechanic only applied when you died while fighting the boss.

This also happened to me today. Wiping the map if dying to a boss is a ridiculous mechanic to begin with, but wiping the map just for walking by the checkpoint is even more ridiculous...
