You're encouraging cowardly play.
I'm trying to build a build that's far from the meta. Obviously, they're far from the meta because they're more fragile builds, although they're much more fun to play. It's not just wandering around the map doing nothing.
If every death means losing the workload of 5 maps, why would I risk playing mechanics like Delirium or Breach? If you lose that much experience, what incentive do I have to face a boss? And what's so fun about all those mechanics when you only play them when you know you're not going to die or kill the boss in one hit? If someone wants to play a boring game by copying a YouTube build, then go for it. That way, we'll have more cheap items in the store. But if you're making life difficult for those of us who are trying to enjoy the game by putting limits on those players, you're only encouraging cowardly play.

What workload of 5 maps are you losing death? Unless you juice up a map till there's only a single portal and than die, but you have to go out of your way to do that. As for xp, it's not that big of a deal. Once you gain a gear upgrade you will quickly level up to match your new power level. I feel like once you accept that in this game levels follow gear instead of vice versa, it clicks a lot better.
Like I have followed no build, slap extra content on things, die and still manage to progress pretty smoothly into tier 10s so far. |

I like the idea mentioned previously, where if you die in a map, it reduces the xp reward within that map. Reduction can be done incrementally depending on the number of revives (i.e. 1 revive means death goes to 0% on death, 3 revives, you lose 33% per death, so the final run of a map means 0% xp). This would make maps meaningful still and provide a reward to flawlessly clearing a map. It would also rid the game of the slogfest of making negative progress when you die, especially at high levels. Worst case, you die 3 times in a 3 revives map, and you are on your last life, you still get the rewards from the map, but your progress on xp is paused for that map.

" I could get behind this. I had mentioned somewhere else doing the mental trick WoW did with their XP where instead of giving a penalty after playing X amount of time they just buffed xp costs and gave a bonus for resting in an inn for X amount of time. Accomplished the exact same thing mechanically but felt better for the player base. This scaling xp from maps thing could manage to accomplish that here. |

Yep specific broken builds that still remaining and ruining everything and everyone in game.
Nice balance. And guess what! Those people gonna reach 100 level becouse the delay of next big patch. In small patches nothing will change as i see from the previous tries. |

Is it not just that the current highest-level map isn't high enough to award the XP needed for that next section of the curve?
Maxing out at 15/16 or whatever just means that people > lvl 90 need to grind pointlessly easy maps to get anywhere, and a single random death nullifies that grind. Get maps through until lvl 20 would be appropriate for a game where max level is 100. |
