Trial of Sekhemas not rewarding ascendancy points

I was doing the trials to get my third set of ascendancy points and died to poison at the same time the third floor boss died. The game started freaking out when I respawned alternating between saying “trial failed” and “trial completed” over and over again. I restarted the game and re-did the trial and when I got to the end it prompted me to interact with the shrine that grants ascendancy point but when it opened the ascendancy tree it said I had no points to spend. I don’t really know what to do about this. I’ve redone the trial twice now and both times it does the same thing.
