Spectres cost too much
It seems crazy that in its current state its this far off the mark, but I'm suggesting as far as a 50-60% reduction in spirit for a good three-quarters of the enemies that can be turned into spectres. Like what's the point in having the system if only a dozen or so of the three-hundred+ options are remotely viable?

Sorry to say but, they have done ZERO, absolutely ZERO effort in fixing them since they've lauched it and I would bet money that they wont for a very long time.
In fact, they should have never deployed the spectres before analyzing a little bit of what can have potential and adjusting the formula cost. This is a dead mechanic and it was supposed to be one of the huge thing in this patch. Pretty much nobody on the server is using those if playing minion unless they're masochists or don't know better. |

Yes, decent candidates for being tank specter (to be able to survive at least 2 hits from white mobs) cost like 100+ spirit per unit, too much to be useful, skeletons do better, scale better. Specters are dead effectively, not usable at all because of the cost and how weak minions in general are.
Same about companions: why in the Universe they cost in % of spirit? Having character with 340 spirit with 300 allocated for basic part of the build I started to think about having little pet and I can't, because the cost of X Tamed Beast is 32% with 20% quality (i.e. entire 100 spirit), and the beast itself not scaled from reserved spirit, nor from quality, nor from gem level (Unlike the cost! Why the efficiency not rise with the cost?). So, the only good thing about Tame Beast are auras on the companions, so we just use the lowest possible gem level to get the lowest cost and get completely useless 100 DPS companion (400-500 DPS with full companion-ally buffing build, player at this point has around 30-45K DPS to comfortable do T15s), that can survive at most 1 hit from white mobs for the cost of top-tier spirit ability. Great deal! Hope, the costs for companions and specters will be lowered and their efficiency at least conciderable: for specters entire point is to have an army of them, even if they will be weak as 1 and without buffs, but a good force on full-minion builds. For Tame Beasts - cost should be either fixed at around 10 spirit per modifier (i.e. 40 in average) but with the same no-damage efficiency like now (i.e. walking pillar of modifiers) OR something like 20-30% of spirit but with huge buff to their damage (+gem quality enabled +higher levels of the gem have to be meaningfully stronger, they should be at least as strong as the original rares they were made from and scale from gem levels - being level 80 strong uniques ta level 20 gem. |

" Hadn't even considered companions in this post, but thats ridiculous. I do find it frustrating how much hype they sold for minion builds in the initial trailers for Early Access, as well as spectres/companions for this last major patch, just to miss the mark so hard. |

Most Spectres are too expensive. A couple of them might actually be a bit low though. This feature was released on the last major patch, and I doubt we are going to see any fix for it before a 0.3.0. It's just a lot of work to evaluate the spirit cost of each monster and when compared to things like the lack of loot and the such, I am afraid it's low priority.
Though what I really dislike about Spectres is the transparent White Fog filter they apply to the model. Really removes a lot of personality from some of the mooks, Tame beasts are what most people thought Bind Spectre would be like, but it has a Dex requirement -.- |
