Disconnected from server. Everything I looted is gone

I had just completed a map and was going back to collect my loot that was on the ground. During that process, I was disconnected from the server. I logged back in on the same character to find my inventory empty and the map closed. I'm fairly certain I didn't even receive the xp for that map. The node is completed on the atlas. So, I can't even go back and complete it again.

I thought this game just paused if there was some sort of connection issue.

Yes, you loose all progress. I've had the same multiple times.
I dont know much on how all that work but would be nice to at least get your progress saved when being disconnected. It's ridiculous.

I've stopped playing for now, this is too bizarre and I don't think anyone is investigating the problem.

I'll be back as soon as there's any news.

That's true. The inexplicable server does not report an error.
Then all the items obtained in the game disappear.

DC usually save your progress but this kind of DC is very serious and destructive, they NEED to fix ASAP otherwise the situation will seriously escalade.
