Omen of Amelioration Still Bugged (0.2.1)
It's dispiriting to do a search on "Omen of Amelioration" and "bugged" and find all the threads that have gone unacknowledged by GGG.
I ran about 4 maps without issue to finally run one highly juiced map only to find the Omen was not triggering and remained intact for 3 deaths; each time I lost a whole frugging bar of XP like the last time I reported this. I think I finally found at least one of the causes of this messed up bug. NOTE TO GGG: I noticed this happens if the map is completed and the character dies in it. I killed all the rares and proceeded to mop up the Expedition and Delirium in it, just as I always do it back when maps only had one try before you lose it. I had 30% delirium and so monsters were extra tough and plentiful too. This underscores the utter lack of polish and major points of imbalance and pain that are left to be addressed by GGG. If you all are going to make this "challenging" and "painful", please make sure there are no disappointing bugs that just makes people abandon your game. If you as a team don't want to remove your ultra unpopular XP loss mechanic in your game, please make sure your vaunted Amelioration Omen, which is not cheap and is weirdly pegged at your fascination with "75%" for all max values, WORKS. I mean how much more should players blab on about your design philosophy being miserly, stingy, and cruel? Such as it is here, why is it that you all turn this Omen off when a map is "completed"? You make most players play by trying to achieve the map objective first before mopping up the other events in it, and if this the reality of gameplay, why turn Amelioration off at all? A better idea is to always keep it on as long as it exists in the inventory and is active, no? Why turn the effect off for any reason other than it gets consumed or deactivated? Sigh. Your game is so frustrating and not in a good way. What a waste of all the good things it does have going for it. The majority of players feel this way. We don't feel heard, much less acknowledged. Each update brings new stuff that only a few can enjoy, when there are a lot of low-hanging fruit that would keep much more players loyal and appreciative. It just makes so little sense and we are not given much to put our faith on.
