Blackjaw Reflect or Hitbox Bug

Blackjaw HC, normal difficulty.

As shown in linked video the three hit combo he does damages me out of sync with the attack animation (Specifically the 2nd hit) and the hitbox is not consistent with the animation (2nd and 3rd hit) although I can imagine being right on the edge of the 3rd hit radius which is fine. More concerned with the 2nd hit connecting while he is seemingly mid air.

It almost looks like he reflects the damage but not sure if this is a mechanic in the fight.
