Ingame loading gears so often why?

Hey. I keep getting two gears in the game. The screen goes black, and the two gears appear. Then it takes a few seconds, and the enemies attack me. I see the health bars, hear music, etc., but only a few seconds later do the actual graphics appear again. What's wrong with that? I've been having this recently in POE1, too.
