Mana drain aura on monsters is super buggy!
There are several major bugs related to the mana drain aura on monsters which have been around since launch and still have yet to be addressed.
1. Mana drain aura drains mana wayyyyy too fast, which leads to most of the following problems. It needs to be tuned down to at least 25% of what it is now, possibly even lower. It's effectively a one shot kill in many cases for people running Mind over Matter builds with Chaos Inoc. If you get caught in the "donut" there's zero time to react. It blows through my 6500 mana instantly, even with 1600+ mana regen. This can't possibly be working as intended. 2. In Chaos Trials, if a monster is coming down an elevator and has the mana drain aura on it, the aura will be invisible until it hits the ground and will immediately take effect. I ran into this where I was standing near an elevator, the aura suddenly appeared out of nowhere, right where I was already standing, it consumed my 6500 mana and killed me instantly before I even had half a second to react. This is super cheesy and needs fixing. There should be a delay or something at a minimum in situations like this so that we have a chance to walk out of the aura. 3. When the large mosquito type insect enemies have a mana aura, not only are they super quick so it's impossible to get away from them, but when they attack the entire mana aura bounces back and forth putting you inside of it repeatedly until it has drained all mana. In the case of someone running MoM + Chaos Innoc this is an unavoidable death, you're just completely screwed no matter what. This is another super cheesy problem with this aura that needs fixing. It's a horrible game experience. Consider having that particular enemy type not capable of having the mana drain aura (or fix the bouncing and add a significant speed penalty to them when they have the aura on them). 4. I ran into an issue today where an enemy had this aura and while I was attacking it far outside of the ring I think it cast some kind of other mana drain spell on me at a distance which drained my 6500 mana instantly. This was either some spell cast at a distance or the ring from the aura taking effect far outside of the range that it should have. Either way this is super cheesy where I can't even try to keep my distance and attack without having my mana insta-drained and killed. Monsters with mana drain aura should not be able to also cast mana drain at a distance, or if there's a bug with the aura radius that should be fixed. And again, the drain rate of this needs to be tuned way down from where it's at right now, it's ridiculous. 5. Certain rare attribute combos should not be possible. Having an ultra-fast mana drain rare with proximal tangibility and some kind of damage by proximity mod for instance, with the current insane mana drain rates, is very usually an insta-death no matter what for MoM + Chaos Inoc users. It's silly and needs fixing. This is bad for the game and is going to make players not want to play. The examples above are super cheesy problems in the game that are making it impossible for my very endgame sorc build (using MoM + Chaos Inoc) to stay alive. I'm guaranteed to die every 100 or so runs (maximum) as I randomly run into one of these cheesy scenarios and as such I can never level, because at level 96 I lose all of my accumulated experience every time I die to one of these mana drain bugs, usually when I'm only two or three xp bars in. It's really discouraging and a bad game experience. This is a character that I played in 0.1.0 and which was already running a mana defence setup. I simply tweaked it so that it was still playable after the nerfs, but these bugs are preventing it's true viability. I'd really like to see the dev team put some attention towards this and fix it. This has been going on for far too long. This is literally the only thing that keeps killing me, over and over and over. This makes Mind Over Matter + Chaos Innoc builds totally unviable for survivability / leveling. This wasn't such a big deal in patch 0.1.0 because the average mana regen level on Sorc was way higher, which tended to counteract this in endgame.
