I Still cannot stand this game.... I want to like it but its just not fun

I took a decent break from all poe games. I have been playing the recent poe league and after i got a bit bored I decided to give poe 2 a go again.

I got to the boss in the mine, still early game i know, But man is it a whole lot of not fun

the pace is glacial, the mobility restrictive and slow, the bosses take way too long
just do more damage? cool. how? i cant find any gear that is better, i only have limited access to gems and they only do so much.
The movement speed in this game is so dogshit slow in early game that it feels like such an unfun chore it makes me not even want to play anymore

i really want to like this game but as it stands its just not fun at all
its tedious, frustrating, slow, boring, and I have no sense of progress

it makes me so confused because poe is great yet it seems that everything you guys did right in poe you said " na lets do it worse" in poe 2

poe1 is extremely easy game compared to poe2. at first i was getting very frustrated with poe2 myself. not because i enjoy easy games, but i was conditioned to how poe1 ended up over the years and there was this massive disconnect of reality (poe2 gameplay) and my expectations (poe1 type gameplay). if you stick with it, learn the game and get good at it and get used to the pacing you will enjoy it very much. highly recommend starting with necro, point'n click controls, and slowly work into attack builds with wasd.

its not that I cant do it, ive gotten to maps on 2 characters, its just not fun
its tedious slow boring and frustrating everything good about poe is missing in poe2

yep, exactly this. POE2 isnt hard, its just super tedious.

yup people need to separate difficulty from tedium. Just because its hard to MAKE yourself do something doesnt make it hard to do. I HATE making spreadsheets at work. Its not HARD it just SUCKS to do. Poe2 SUCKS for way too long before it gets fun.

never said you can't do it. its about perception and how one can get used to poe1 type gameplay. if you truly want to like poe2 it might take some more time if you played recent poe1 leagues a lot

it has nothing to do with skill and everything to do with the core structure of the game.

I'm not talking about the game but the reward pathways you got used to with poe1. its like doomscrolling. putting down a cellphone isn't exactly a difficult task neither but many struggle with it.

I agree with the OP in this thread on a few ideas. Early movement speed is slow and movement overall feels more like sliding or gliding use M+K. Early currency should be easier to get so you can start upgrading all of the trash white gear we get.

If the solution is lowering your standards for a slower, retro game, wouldn't playing D2R be the better play?
