Nova Projectiles + Lighting Spear doesn't work

Nova Projectiles + Lighting Spear doesn't work, but it's supported support gem to this skill. Is it possible that something is blocking it?

In PoE2, Lightning Spear has the Projectile tag, but mechanically it isn’t treated like a regular missile. It creates a channeled spear construct rather than firing classic projectiles that the engine can duplicate in a nova pattern.

That’s why Nova Projectiles Support shows as a valid link (because the tags line up), but it has no actual gameplay effect. Nothing is blocking it on your end — it’s simply how the skill is implemented in PoE2’s design.

In short:

Supported: yes (tags match).

Works: no (not compatible with the nova mechanic).

Reason: Lightning Spear isn’t coded as a normal projectile in PoE2.

So what's the idea of it being recommended support gem for this skill?

Yeah, it's ridiculous. It shouldn't be in the recommended tab. Even if it weren't, GGG seriously needs to do a better job of defining how things function and make it more clear what can and cannot pair together.

If it's too hard to come up with verbiage that clearly expresses something mechanically in a concise way, then just make damn sure gems that don't function with a skill can't even be slotted.

Marks have a similar problem, but at least the game doesn't let you act on it. They list Rapid Casting as recommended under Sniper's Mark but it literally cannot be slotted into that skill, and the game has it greyed out (it still shouldn't appear in recommendations period).

The entire support gem UI needs to be a lot better. The recommendations are frequently outright false information, and the All Gems tab is a bloated mess that's needlessly intimidating for new players while also being too obtuse for veterans. It's borderline unusable unless you know exactly what gem you want, otherwise the search bar is in no way sufficient considering how many supports simply don't work with things that they seemingly should.

wtf do you mean "This is all working as intended." ? its called nova projectiles meaning it fires in a nova which it doesnt do

for me it fires only one bolt does less damage and doesnt fire them in a circle. pass it on its broken
