Tactician's "Cannons, Ready!" notable not triggering when using Nova Projectiles in attack

As per the title. I have the "Cannons, Ready!" ascendancy notable allocated.

When using crossbow shot without Nova Projectiles socketed, the totem attacks correctly. However, once slotting in Nova Projectiles and then attacking the totem just idles and does nothing despite "firing an attack projectile".

This same behavior can be seen when socketing Nova Projectiles in other attacks like Armor Piercing Rounds, Explosive Shot, etc.

Something else I found, using Molten Blast also does not cause the totems to attack, despite it being a projectile attack. This happens regardless of Nova Projectiles being socketed or not. I tried the dual wield version and using a single 1h-mace version with no supports socketed in it and neither of them would cause the totem to trigger its attack
