Shield not adding resistances

Searched far and wide before deciding to post. I have a shield (The specific shield in question is the Chernobog's Pillar) in my primary weapon slot 1, when equipped, and using slot 1, none of the resistances are calculating to the character sheet. I have unequipped it and re-equpped it, as well as made sure to only be using one weapon slot (I've been using 2).

Not quite sure what else to do? Any help would be appreciated.

Ok one odd bit, I switched it to weapon slot 2 and it worked. But this effects my build because I use Ringwald's for that weapon slot (and on a different weapon). So weird.
