Abyss mod Shade Walker bugged damage?

The Shade Walker abyss mod teleports the rare on top of your character and creates desecrated ground which does physical damage over time and prevents recovery. This thing essentially one shots my very tanky character. Is this intended? The damage seems bugged. I don't even have enough time to react to it and have no way to mitigate the damage.
