Darkness from Acolyte of Chayula Ascendancy is still bugged

The unique Darkness feature from Chayula ascendancy is still bugged, despite all the previous attempts at fixing it.

Having small amounts of energy shield and taking damage over time breaks its intended function and allows damage to sometimes bypass both energy shield and Darkness itself and all the damage you take goes directly into life.

I have bug reported this same issue multiple times in previous leagues, and bug fixes have been made, but they haven't actually fixed the issue yet.

Please actually fix it this time.

Darkness is half of the entire Ascendancy and it's utterly unplayable because you can't rely on it to work right. With half of the Chayula Ascendancy gone to the wind there's really no reason to ever pick it for anything.
