The starter/early gear now is very reasonable and easy to get, in trade leagues very simple to get better stuff than that.
But the "day 1/early gear" that was presented in the PoB at league start was indeed pretty unrealistic for most people. And I assume that is what they were referring to previously.

I do take an instant health pot for oh shit moments. Its pretty useful especially in ultimatums!

Starting to look into optimizing it a bit getting into t14+ maps, since I've been going on till now on a 100 chaos budget and I have some currency to invest.

I just don't get the vigilant strike setup, alongside the Vigil jewel. The jewel makes so that vigilant strike gives us fortify, buuut vigilant strike already gives us fortify when we use it, so I don't quite get the use of that jewel.

Could you help me understand ? Thanks !

you can self find all that gear by picking up bases in blood aqueducts. The early game gear is absurdly easy to get.

I mean I don't really have any clue about crafting and avoid it as much as possible if it goes above alt or chaos spam lol
With my gloves for example I just got really lucky on the trading, was way cheaper than it should have been.
But that's more late/end game equip anyway, not early on stuff. and seriously unless you are playing SSF, getting decent stuff cheap on trade is really no science ;-)
Flasks are literally just alt spam until you get something nice (with occasionally using beast crafting to add curse immunity or whatever)

The Vigil is for being used with general's cry. That is so the minions created which will use Vigilant Strike when they attack will apply the buff to you as their teammate. Otherwise you don't need it if you getting fortify buff in any other way.
