Good question. Since I haven't leveled him as a spell caster before...

Definitely start with crits ignoring resists. That's the only one he can actually use early. Can easily get the 1st trial done at lv 20 in act 2.

Then he won't really need anything until late 50's (CoC). Not sure when exactly to go CI either. I'm starting at a casual pace now, will probably be at that point on Monday.

2nd trial (chaos) should be easy enough around lv 40, so maybe take 10% extra damage as Cold temporarily.

And then when CoC becomes available respec both those ascendancies to Spirit/ES and Meta Skills and go CI at the same time. Then do the 3rd trial (Sekhema) and take Meditate.

Finally, do the 4th trial (Sekhema) after lv 75 and adding WI and re-take the crit/res node. For the full build, it's the least important one because you don't really need it for bosses. Ele Weakness debuffs them into negative resists.

I had a pretty easy time leveling with Ice Nova. Just need a source of infusions. Which is Frost Bomb at the start. Then you get Snap: finishing enemies frozen by Ice Nova and getting infusions for a bigger blast.

The most important thing for leveling is to have a staff (or wand + focus, but staff is a lot easier to get) with +levels to cold spells.

At lv 41 added Comet for single target.

At lv 58 added CoC and CoA - two Comet procs.

At lv 65 you can start using legacy supports. As soon as you get Sione and Vilenta, Frostbolt becomes awesome. This is your main mapping skill. It just requires those 2 support gems.

That's where I am right now. Early mapping and leveling to lv 75 to get the staff. Icestorm will be used to create the Comet Rain for single target.

I'm streaming my experience during NA daytime.

Update from PoE2:

- The build is online and working, currently at lv 92 (PoB).
- Non-meta means everything is pretty cheap.
- The main power spike (other than getting the staff) is the gem levels. Once you get Frostbolt and 2x Comet to lv 20 you pretty much 1-shot everything in T15 maps, even most of the rares. Empowered bosses die in 5-10 sec too.

Still trying to find time to write the guide (sorry!). Spending all my free time enjoying the game :)

Just looking from top to bottom:

-You could go for a 10% increased int +55 int helmet.
-I was able to get this amulet for ~40 div, could try to find/craft a slightly better one without going simplex:
-Helical rings for sure
-There are better watcher's eyes. If you manage to get recoup on a helical ring to roll positive you could just get the maximum energy shield with clarity and penetrate 10% elemental resist with zealotry on the watchers. Or you could get really lucky and find one with recoup and those two other stats for a perfect trifecta.

Here is my character if you want to compare gear. You can ignore my Bound by Destiny and Crusader Whispering Ice's. I have had a lot of currency this league and just threw those at it for the sake of 'number go up'
