Please delete Prowling Shades from the game
Prowling shades weren't fun in PoE 1 Incursions and still aren't fun.
Basing a monster's mechanic around the player waiting around unable to do sh*t until it graciously allows to be damaged again is stupid game design. Remember Oak fight from times when Immortal Call was an actual invulnerability? Mind you, I'm not saying the monster is hard, not at all. It's otherwise trivial and if you're paying attention to its massive telegraph, you shouldn't be caught in its freeze. What the prowling shade is, however, is DISRESPECTFUL. It's disrespectful of the player's power. Disrespectful of the player's ability to dish out damage (indeed, after multiple monster packs died, the shade is usually the last one still not dead). Disrespectful of non-spammy builds that play the game "as intended", with combos and a long ramp up time. On top of being invulnerable half of the time, the bastards are straight out cheating: - input reading to vanish from a railgun projectile sent their way - vanish a millisecond before getting hit by a guaranteed freeze - vanish a millisecond before a flash grenade explodes Basically, as far as I can tell, if its invisibility is off cooldown, you cannot physically 1-shot, stun or freeze it. It will use its ability at the last frame possible and waste your time. Did I mention wasting player's time is disrespectful? 最後にスレッドがバンプされた時間 時刻 2025/05/18 15:44:26

Yeah this is like the most annoying monster in the game for me lol
It's just designed to waste your time. "haha the monster went completely invulnerable while casting some frost spells and chilling you just to annoy you" |

It only serves as an annoyance, it isn't even a hard enemy.

Just ran into a rare one with magma shield, the moment its shield was down went invis for 30 seconds before coming back with a fresh magma shield. Absolute time waster!

Bump to remind everyone that this garbage of a mob still exists in the game.
To avoid an empty bump, let me share a story. So while I was fighting some other monsters, a group of these buggers assaulted me. As per usual, I just started spamming AoE around in hope to catch any that come out of invulnerability for two seconds. It honestly felt like there was twenty of them, they kept appearing, disappearing on and on and on. Until I realized the "Minion" tag and started wondering, "Hey, where's your daddy?" And sure enough, I found him not far from there, with REVIVES MINIONS. They should add "OFFSCREEN LMAO" to that description. Let me tell you, ladies and gentlemen, those few minutes of my life was some of the peak ARPG experience ever. </sarcasm> |

A future skill/support for defensive>aggressive builds could include a way to reflect these spooks' annoying freeze wave back onto them if said skill is used at the right time. It could also apply to those massive green shockwaves thrown out by the pillar-holders/priest of the suns' lazer beam!

These are 100% just such a time wasting enemy. They're not hard, fun, or difficult. They are annoying. GGG please respect players time a bit more and realize that annoying does not equal difficult.

Its not just shade, its so many mobs that dive off screen, underground, and crap.

+1000 These mobs need a complete rework or just hit the delete button on them. No one will miss them. 1 or 2 together are doable, but when you're on a tower and you have a rare one with 6 of his shade bro's....there is no way you are getting out alive because they surround you and chain freeze you to death. Not in a linear fashion, but a giant ring frost. Give them a bigger skill cooldown, or no energy shield and low health, or increase the cooldown on their stealth, or decrease the chance to be frozen...anything...even just delete them out of the game.
