Poe2 After death star fire animation vs Olroth T4

Right before Olroth died he began saying his phrase "star fire". Olroth dies as he is in the process of this and collapses to the ground. I run around in anticipation of the loot drop and get blasted by star fire after he is dead. This feels terrible. If this is an intended mechanic please let me know.
