Feedback for GGG: 4 Reasons Why I'm Thinking About Quitting Until v1.0

I've leveled a number of characters to endgame but I keep finding these 4 reasons why I'm thinking about quitting, at least to v1.0.
I'm sure I'm not the only person thinking about at least 1 of these reasons.

1. The item drop progression is terrible. You get endless rare items (more with the G patch) that are junk. For all my characters, I've had to buy around 95% of the items. This takes away one of the main good feels of an ARPG, the loot.
I'm talking about a casual player, with only average rarity bonus, only currently at map tier 7 (legacy season I was doing T16, same issue).
It just feels off. All I'm doing is disenchanting and trying to get materials, just to buy the items.

2. The crafting system is terrible. It's just gambling, with a few items to improve the odds. It just feels awful.

3. No auction house, so you have to contact players, or at least try to. Often you have to spend a lot of time contacting more people because of no replies.

4. XP loss on death. As a casual player, the most anti fun thing I can think of is, I play for a couple of hours to slowly progress my character then die, which wipes out a lot of today's progression. It's just not a good feeling. The XP loss is such an dated idea, the XP progression already slows to a crawl past mid 80's.

Please GGG, sort this crap out. You have the potential of the greatest ARPG but these 4 things are holding it back.

Life's been busy, so I haven't had a chance to keep up with all the news.
Has anyone noticed any news re any of those 4 points in my post being addressed?

Sorry to give you bad news but nope. No change. I 100% agree with all your points but you are basically challenging the core design PoE2 is built on. GGG WANTED and INTENDED these things to be in their game i.e., it is DELIBERATE.

At this point, it is obvious that there are 2 halves of PoE2 that may have been worked on by at least 2 different teams. The first half, is the campaign, and the second half, the initial plan to upgrade PoE1's graphics and UX part of which is the endgame in PoE2 we all love and enjoy.

These 2 halves clash horribly and it seems the ones actively working on PoE2 right now are the teams that worked on the PoE1 "conversion" update.

As you say, GGG made the bones of a great game and subsequently wrapped it in trash.

Regarding 1st point... loot is not only items that you can equip, you are dropping currency as well, which as you have said, use to buy items (for trade leagues). Very rarely people do drop really good items on the ground, either is Path of Exile 1 or 2.

Second point, even the items you bought/are going to buy, are crafted by someone, the issue is that the entry point for crafting is high due to a previous issue with how rare omens are, or locked behind specific content (trials usually for souls/time-lost jewels, unique jewel from Zarokh), or end game bosses for good unique items.

Third one, here sometimes you will meet a lot of price fixers who just won't answer you no matter what, usually items are not that cheap, so is about digging a bit deeper to actually see the actual value of an item and most of the times you will have immediate answer.

Forth, this can actually be solved with Omen of Amelioration, quite cheap in trade league, since you are playing it.
At the eve of the end

People do not want to play a game for 300 hours and get literally nothing. The drops in the game are pure trash and it would be comical for you to defend the loot drops in this game. By the time a normal person other than a Bot or no lifer gets any currency the stuff on the trade site is way too overpriced because 99.9% of people do not have the time to waste playing RNG slop. Not to mention one guy is able to post 30 items in the same listing flooding the market and fixing the price. Its terrible and it makes most people quit the game because its wasting their time.

most people don't even get to doing those bosses because the game has drained them of any fun they though they might have. This game is just constantly beating you down making you weaker and it gets annoying.

The trading in this game is another negative that turns people off. No one wants to "dig a little deeper" on a confusing web page. They just want to have fun playing a game. The trading is emersion breaking and they really need to consider an in game auction or something similar. This is supposed to be a new game yet everything implemented so far is a clone from POE1.

"

Forth, this can actually be solved with Omen of Amelioration, quite cheap in trade league, since you are playing it.

You saying something is cheep doesn't make it so. Why would they even bother put that omen into the game? They know that the death penalty is over tuned and that's why they have added it to the game. Again its just poor and unfun mechanics regardless if there is things to buy.

What drives me out is it takes too much each map. In POE 1 I can finish a map in ten minutes and I have this feeling of "one map more". In POE 2, cleaning a map takes me half an hour or more and I have this feeling "I'm done."
I have no complains with the crafting system. You cannot get the perfect end game gear, but good enough. I didn't need to buy anything.

Obviously there is margin for improvement to make crafting more interesting. However making crafting more deterministic will make it too powerful and like POE 1, drops of exalted orbs will drastically drop to compensate, leaving crafting for the top 5% players.

Some ideas: Orbs that increase the level of the gear and orbs that reset the mods.

This can drastically change the game play. There is no longer high level and low level gear. All items is available from the start.
Now you can have gear with different implicit, (thorns, spirit, more mana, ...) like rings and amulets have. find, keep upgrading to the end of the game.
There is no need for spam drops because once each gear you find in meaningful and you can keep it to the end of the game.
There is no need to spam drops with random mods that 99% are trash.
The jackpot will be a ring with the implicit you want and upgrade it as you level up.

Just some ideas.
even if you come back after the game is released. I guarantee the game will be broken with every league launch and every patch just like it is now they don't know how to fix their game without creating new issues and we're just their testers

Same. I don't get a lot of time to play and at least in PoE1 there was variety in the quick content, like heist or delve or even a blighted map. I hope more bite-sized, fast content is on the way instead of some of these huge maps.

I super agree here. I like crafting in 2 way more than 1 and really hope they don't either turn it into poe 1 or make it super deterministic in a way that encourages trading over playing. So far I haven't had to touch trade once and I've hit tier 15s. I can't imagine doing that in 1.

I'm not a big fan of finding one piece of gear and sticking with it all game. I can see maybe uniques having tiered versions you can upgrade to end-game maybe but for rares I'd rather just get new rares. I can see some minor upgradability but it shouldn't let you carry an item through the whole game I feel. Unless maybe it takes excessive effort to accomplish. I do feel like PoE needs a lot of work on build shifting mods and ability to reroll your character but that's a separate issue.

Overall I like the "chaos" of loot. I just want an ingame filter option. That way they can drop a little bit of everything and you as the player can choose what you care about with a filter. But if you have to go outside the game and fiddle with a word dock to do that than chances are people are just gonna use FilterBlade which means you still aren't choosing what you see. This defeats the entire point of having a variety of item drops because it creates clutter that everyone ignores. Personally I think it's impossible to know what each player wants. For example I like seeing magic and normal items because I craft on them but I constantly see people complain about seeing too many of them. An in game loot filter option means I could see those items and for others that don't, while they still technically drop, they'll get hidden so those people can focus on looking at the items they actually care about.
