Last Epoch (LE) now has fewer players than Path of Exile 2 (POE 2). What does this tell us?

While many complainers tried to claim that LE would destroy POE 2 because it’s supposedly “super fun,” LE has lost players three times faster than POE 2.

What does this tell us? When you can blast through the endgame in three days, you move on to something else after those three days—that’s it. Many streamers didn’t even play LE for a full week, and several returned to POE 2, only to complain that the game is too hard.

GGG, you shouldn’t be afraid to fix the game, especially those bugged one-button builds. These are what’s killing the game, and most players don’t even realize it.
The OS vs. OS gameplay is ridiculous. What’s the point of having combat or boss mechanics when you can deal 20 million damage in one hit after just 7–8 hours of playtime?

Sure, there are legitimate criticisms about crafting, loot, or balance, but the game being “too hard” isn’t one of them. It’s actually too easy—or rather, unbalanced. I avoided using bugged mechanics, yet the only effective way to defeat bosses is to OS them.

I don’t mind a game being slower than POE 1; it’s a different game. But you shouldn’t balance the game around skills like Lightning Spear, where you need to put OS mechanics in the game to counter player power.

You have the opportunity to create a ARPG different. do it.

P.S

I am a Dog and i will just drop my load and leave on to the next post
Last Epoch has shorter game loop/cycle than PoE and still has to do address the infinite scaling problem in the Monolith system. Also, as its developers recently stated, some archetypes need to be reworked and be brought up to speed since they were designed several years ago.

The game is moving in the right direction. Whether it will evolve into a serious competitor to PoE remains to be seen. Let's not forget that PoE also began as "not a very big threat do Diablo" and see where it is now.
It tells us that when loot is overabundant, it has such little intrinsic value to where the process of acquiring it (playing the game) becomes less worth it in the long run.

I had multiple POE friends raving about Last Epoch after its last big update, saying how much more fun it was and that there's so much loot. And then they got bored of it in less than a week.
meh

everyone is different

i still find LE to be far more enjoyable

and i like the fact i can get a character geared and to end game and not feel sluggish or punished for my time

unless you trade or are a 8 hour a day player.. poe2 is way more punishing to your time. its also less enjoyable overall.
the skill/gear in poe2 is boring

the skill tree in LE is great

the giant node tree in poe2 is more or less pointless fluff and the nodes are boring 90% of the time. its +5 stats wow.. yawn

Last Epochs had fewer players for a while now. It didn't take very long.
It's a fun game to blast for a week, and they definitely are improving. But as everyone has said, too much loot becomes a bore, and almost a chore after a while even with their great item filters.

Lot of good ideas...great class system, great crafting, the LP system is awesome. The end-game is still pretty meh, blasting while fun does get boring fast, there isn't any real difficulty outside of eventually you either one shot or get one shot at a certain corruption.

I do hope it keeps improving though, it's definitely the second best after POEs.
It tells us that ARPGs aren't that good of a game genre.

It wont. It is B class game, cheap in design. Will remain niche, just like pixel games (no matter how good they are) will always remain niche. If they want to make it to high league they must invest a lot into design, that is, game bones. And that basically means making a completely new game from the ground.

Zoom-zoom is bad for the game. For any game, but especially for ARPGs.

However, some players just feel too addicted to the "god" feeling, for some reason.

It's like a wallhack + aimbot in FPS games. You might try it and you realize that it can be fun for 30 sec and then (if you are smart enough) you realize that by taking away any challenge, you broke the game, finished it and you won't play anymore. And it's call cheating by the way.

PoE 2 started on a really good track and was overwhelmed by negative feedback of the vocal minority of "cheaters" coming from PoE 1 wanting to feel super fast and super powerful.

Okay, fine, if they like PoE 1 is up and running.
PoE 2 should slow down, reduce player power and stop zooming.

Last Epoch almost instant rise/crash shows this extremely well.
