Support Gem as Item

First, love the game. I'm just min-maxing my build.

Currently you can't modify any support gem(no q/no vaal), the whole system can be replace by "unlock support gem" feature. (unless you want to cut and throw them on the ground)
So support gems feel a little empty against other items to me.

So um, I want to ask is there any interesting idea coming in the future? soon?
