Please Cut Animation Times by 50% Combat Feels Unplayably Sluggish
Exactly this lead me to uninstall PoE 2 on early release day playing Warrior.
I remembered their promise that they gonna fix melee and its just an animation issue. Well truth to be told the combat feels horrible for warrior melee in PoE 2 its way tooooo slow. |

I am thankful for Acolyte of Chayula's easily accessed +Skill Speed nodes! I think all warrior has is the 12% from Bloodrush's branch.

" Id say it starts with the skill gem design and built in attack speed penaltys and continues with bad skill tree support and clunky animations like stampede. 最後に zzang#1847 が 2025/07/04 14:09:13 に編集

" i'd say it starts with game pacing and split second reaction time expected from players. actually it might even start with insta regen/pots if we dig deep enough |

" PoE 2 is just as convulsive tbh, poor visibility to boot. If you want a methodical ARPG experience go play D2R or Grim Dawn, they're great. |

" the rather odd thing here is that GGG spent quite a bit of money to make those animations as real life as possible and accurate to martial art style etc with real time body mapping etc, so unless they do slow down this game quite a lot or eventuality they will have to forget about fancy animations because no one will even see them anyway. i'm interested in the outcome of this very much. |

Im of the impression that designing something as close to reality as possible in a game with magical skill gems, magic and cast speed is the wrong way. Fun should be first and animations should follow the fun and not make the game ultra clunky.
Somehow the design philisophy of realism is out of the window as soon as they design spells and projectile builds but when it comes to melee it always has to be clunky with drawbacks and i disagree with that. I guess time will tell how successful GGG vision of melee will be in PoE 2. |
