Five Weeks into 0.2.0, POE2 is Down 93.2% Players All Time & 83.9% from Patch Launch

That’s totally fine — as long as they keep their exotic tastes to themselves instead of preaching them like gospel.

This blade cuts both ways. To them, your tastes are exotic. So then are you going to take your own advice?

Didn't think so.

This isn't a war, there is room for every opinion.

After the super successful launch in December, GGG moved from developing the game to "fixing" the game. That was a serious error! Don't fix that which is not broken, is a great motto to apply.

In 0.2, instead of simply developing PoE2 further toward launch status, GGG chose to focus on nerfing the snot out of what people enjoyed about the game and, consequently, nerfed the snot out of their player base as well.

The course can and should be corrected. Problem is, it is much easier to destroy, than to rebuild. And make no mistake, GGG kicked their own momentum right in the bollocks. Now, even all the right adjustments will take time to bear fruit.

Do you ever take a moment and reflect on the fact that maybe just maybe all of us don't have the full dataset and the numbers are actually quite good. GGG has access to the entire dataset and no company on planet earth makes moves to lose money. Which shows anyone that this very vocal minority on the forum is not the consensus of what the data shows.

I doubt it, tbh, plenty of game developers pushed their audience into the abyss in the name of artistic integrity.

NRFtW is currently doing the same, their main dev called most of the playerbase too dumb to understand how stats work last month.

I get GGG and i get the anti-GGG community, but i don't believe they're immune to fucking up in design direction, especially with such a green/unfinished project.
I have quit recently, 230hrs+ this league but I simply can't force myself to play anymore, which is sad because I really need a game but this one makes me feel like I'm never going to feel good about any of the rng. It's just too much. Last time I played I just kept dying and lost my exp back down to 0% and I was glad. Every item that drops all complete garbage to the point that it's offensive how bad the drops are. I just decided it's over.

So you can actually subtract 2 more because I also have two consoles and tried to dual box for better drops. Maybe it is more loot but who cares when everything sucks so hard.

The market seller people might be the only ones that have any sort of certainty of how there game is going. If you actually like trying to play the game you get left behind and burned.

There is evidence that player engagement has declined.
There is no evidence to the contrary.

The above is simply cognitive dissonance. You're inability to accept reality. Instead you've chosen to head over to lala land, where some mystical silent majority resides. oof.
Compared to what though. Seems logical that there will be more people on ea release, that on kind of almost league-y patch. The difference in hype is enormous, and I don't know who the additional people are - 1000h endgame guys just angry about no jeweler drops, or campaign first guys/ casuals who were happy to play once and wait for full ver, do you?

If you consider their corrective actions for communication and more frequent patches, you can infer that engagement was/is starting to wane. A lot of that is on the over-correction/nerf they did to skills to allow them to buff mid-patch. These moves they make aren't always perfect. GGG is just trying to do their best to please players and develop their game. This time it wasn't well received and based on their actions, they are likely trying to figure out how to course correct for the future. The game state, especially endgame, isn't in a polished condition and many players have moved on cause of frustration. It's EA, what do we all expect. Hope they try to fix it tho.
