"Your Build is Bad" Proves POE2 Missed the Mark. POE1 is Much Easier to Understand

Trade isnt the problem in this game. There is trade in POE1 and it doesnt prevent an impediment. Sure someone who trades will move faster than I will playing SSF. I dont care. If you care that someone gets to maps faster than you then I would suggest you need to play a compeditive game. This is not. Nor is POE1.

Disagree that PoE is not competitive game. It is a competitive game, but the competitiveness is in economic environment.

I agree that trade is not the problem, BUT, designing and tailoring the game around trade is the problem especially when PoE 2 trying to create a new wheel, trying to be its own game, but still using its predecessor as foundation.

In discussing about Fang of Frost viability, I have 2 views about it ;

1) I agree with your take about why shouldn't we allowed to take a skill like that into maps, making it "endgame" viable, picking up pieces of puzzles and constructing a build in which the process itself can be considered a fun factor. After all, Path of Exile 1 allowing that kind of process and its quite rewarding.

2) I also agree with GGG / Jonathan idea of making certain skills are meant to be just utility, and simply can't scale it terms of becoming its own archetype.

But the problem is, GGG enforces the idea of not allowing certain skills to be scaled as straightforward and become its own archetype but still using PoE 1 game foundation of randomization in itemization and trade dependency in making PoE 2.

Just like what you said in your other posts about trying to make the skill to actually do something meaningful and be its own archetype, require investment in gears that seems to be not making sense. GGG refuse to implement a proper crafting system that will greatly help player's progression in playing their own archetype because they want everything to be harder / slower, they want "ground loot matters" not "loot matters" , they don't want players to easily get upgrades even incrementally just by simply playing the game, they still want the game to be balanced and tailored around trade.

They don't want us to have a system in which we actually able to plan and working slowly but surely to get that gear with specific modifiers that we need for our specific build. They want us to be dependent on trading, to depend on others in the spirit that they call "this item might be not useful for me but could be useful for other".

GGG doesn't want PoE 2 players to be able to get martial weapon with damage modifiers easily like in PoE 1 with vendor recipe, or movement speed boots, or certain ring bases for elemental resistances. Every league and patch that seems to be remove friction / scarcity in PoE 1 deemed as "failure".

It still just designed like PoE 1, and all of these failure of design can be traced back and stemmed from the game still being designed and tailored around trade.

Just like what you said about "Why does it bother people that some could take out the maps?"

I'd say, Why they can't implement somewhat deterministic method of gear progression ? PoE 1 have it, why can't PoE 2 have it ? The game want to be different than PoE 1 ? Then why, for the love of god, the game still have alot of systems that just simply the same like PoE 1 ?

everything implied here and the OP's posts describe what is already in Last Epoch.

If LE had as good combat mechanics and graphics as PoE2, I'd drop this game in a heartbeat.

Edit: oh and yeah, the answer to your last question probably lies in the change of ownership, don't you think? PoE2 should be renamed to PoG2 (G for Gatcha) or PoRNG. I thought I was getting away from all the Asian ARPGs and MMORPGs when I embraced PoE2 but I see many traces of those G games I though I left behind.

I don't trade in POE1 or 2 except when I am playing ruthless (because it is impossible to get support gems without trade) but even in ruthless I only trade for gems. That being said I don't mind people that trade. I don't think trade should be removed from the game. If you want to drop loot at higher rates for SSF that would be cool but that is not necessary so long as the baseline loot is something I can work with. If I can get to endgame with a spear thats a bit behind, that's cool. I will map for currency and use my crafting bench and harvest to craft what I want. Its a cool challenge.

That being said if Joe wants to buy the blaster build from the market, OK I am not bothered by that either. Again I am not in competition with them. I don't care. Maybe Joe doesn't want to learn how to craft. Cool. Why should he be forced? Its a game, not a profession. The problem with POE original, in my opinion, is that it always was more focused on loot drops than currency drops. Well POE2 threw any notion of crafting out the window completely. Harvest, bench, scours, alts, all gone. Replaced by RNG.

The problem with RNG is is if you are SSF the game is a pure slot machine and not fun because you get stuck on bosses or zones long before you reach endgame because you don't have the items you need. You can only keep dropping millions of items and hoping. That isn't fun. Its a hamster wheel.

The problem with pure RNG in trade league is it HEAVILY incentivizes Real Money Transactions (RMT) which of course draws the bot farmers. They guys dont need to trade with a 500k strong player base. The 1% whales is fine for them to pocket a lot of cash.

Now I THOUGHT GGG learned this lesson years ago. Apparently I was mistaken.

It's pretty simple, nerf anything fun from last league.
Nerf all the best items from last league.
Pinnacle bosses dropping OMEGA nerfed items(wow...I got a HoWa, 30ex lets go)
Nerf skill tree.
Nerf the probability of getting good rolls on the best of the nerf'd items from last league.
There is no excitement in this game now, like none at all.
Broken builds are what's fun and having many of them that don't cost a fortune in endgame you can put together.

Tell everyone you aren't nerfing builds, you haven't touched lightning spear.

Then out of nowhere, you REALLY had to nerf Beira's Anguish.
A item that like what 1% of players used to make a build work?

Trade site is completely BARE right now, I just looked for a rare pair of gloves with 3 simple stats on them.

2 Pairs, 2 WHOLE pairs on trade.
Look for a gem, literally 1.

RMT has been buying out and hoarding items off Trade. GGG knows who they are, we know who they are.
They buy everything because they can and make sure there is nothing on trade but a couple of the items you are looking for for 100x the price.

When you cripple everything in your game and narrow the path to building good endgame builds, you make it sooo easy for RMT to just destroy the game.

You know the accounts that are just hoard buying all the high value items to control the price.

Get them gone, make builds great again.
The real world economy I live in is bad and getting worse.
Stop making us play your depression simulator.
Want to buy a home that was 100K while the cheapest are now 1 Million.
That's what going on.
Foreign money came in and bought out all the cheap Real Estate.

You combat this buy having better drops, nerfing "come free XP leech" aurabot farmers.
