I finally tried minions.. how on earth is this balanced??

Minion build used to be able to clear any T4 pinnacle without a problem. Not only now it's a problem, it's a real struggle to the point it's most likely bricked for T3-T4 content if you are in SSF or HC.

If you play trade league then T3 is probably still accessible but very hard and T4 sims is probably impossible.

I've played SSF minions as my only characters in 0.1 and 0.2 and I've no idea why people are having such a struggle. Aside from occasional bugs shutting minions out of boss arenas in various maps or pathing issues in corridors, no issues progressing through campaign and atlas. I'm not HC but I had like 5 deaths in total in maps whilst getting nearly every basic atlas point. I've stopped playing because I don't have time and what's left is mainly bossing which I don't enjoy with any build, but I'm not seeing what everyone's issue with getting through the campaign and atlas basics is. Maybe because I don't follow along with what's meta and don't care there are other OP builds existing that can 1 button clear things. Very end end game minions may be an issue, didn't get to it, but it's early access and people should expect poor balance.

Yeah, I would advise against playing HC with minions, the game is way too unbalanced right now. I used to play HC but switched to SSF standard.

Fair point. The truth is, campaing is easy, even for minions if you know how the class work. If you play SSF, you need to get very lucky on rolls for those + Skills on helmet and amulet, otherwise progression can be rough later.

But when it comes to mapping, minion is still underwhelming. I still play blue maps because if I juice my maps a little too much, I still die. So to me, it's not even about the very end game, the class is just not very good right now and the tools availables are very limited.

In other words, if you are not an expert with the class or follow a guide, you will suffer miserably playing minions in late game in the current meta. I recognize OP seems to misunderstand some mechanics and the class but he's not wrong about one thing, minion is not a very good class after 0.2.

If this can help OP, this is the kind of gear you should be looking for, I'm playing SSF too, just not hardcore because it would be nuts to do so with minions :

while i appreciate your post, and sharing your gear. im very sorry to tell you. that it is completely not optimized for minions. and i dont even think your res capped.

your sceptre doesnt have spirit.
your helmet is only +2.
your amulet is only +2
you dont have ventor rings.
your belt is ... average at best.
your robe, while it has spirit, is less than average otherwise. in terms of es.
your gloves are w/e. mediocre. not even worth mentioning.
your boots are below average.
your sapphire doesnt have attack/cast speed.
and you do not have a +1-3 prism jewel. cuz if you had one. it would have been there.
since you didnt put your shield/offhand. im assuming you dont have sunsplinter. which is 3-4 +minions levels your missing alone.

while your not geared nearly enough, and it MIGHT SEEM like im shitting on you. i am actually NOT. it only, actually, reinforces my post about how stupid difficult and expensive it is to gear minion characters.

IMO. you would be a half decently geared minion player. probably capable of t15's, but not juiced t15. and certainly not any pinnacle content whatsoever.(t3/4) i highly doubt you have more than a handful of ritual/delerium/expedition or breach atlas points, or even full atlas points in general. (i could be wrong if you got carried, paid for it, or bruised your way to them however)

how are you supposed to get insanely rare items? (that are MANDITORY FOR YOUR BUILD)
how are you supposed to get them rolled how you need them to be? (that are not good items unless they are?)

( and when i say manditory. i mean manditory. as in. there ISNT ANOTHER ITEM that does what 1 item does... IE: ventors ring for spirit. sunsplinter for +lightning skill for storm mages or w/e matching skill+ you need. +1-3 prism jewel from arbiter. +4 cast/att speed/14-15% minion dmg jewels. +3 minion helmet after corruption. +4 sceptre with 70+ spirit and +min dmg , +3 all skills / minion w/ +1 allskills/minion amulet corrupted. ........ those are MANDITORY gear slots. manditory. and are all insane rare items to roll/drop/craft)
