Short and Sweet why this game isn't something I can play long term

Trade in Diablo 2 never had the negative affect on it that POE 2 does. You must know this. Right?

How many people in Diablo 2 traded common currency items for absurdly power items using built in trade functionality? It just didn't happen.

Diablo 2 is the goat because it had that magical balance of findig loot and equiping it without much headache.

In POE 2 you have 1 of 2 horrible options. You can either get it mindlessly with no thrill and no effort by trading for a cookie cutter build and just be done with the game in a week.

Or you can go SSF and just agaonize over obtaining everything slowly and painfully in a system that isn't tuned for SSF.

Ahhhh, now we getting to the heart of your problem.
You aren't happy with the loot in the SSF mode.

But you can't blame the trade leagues for this.
Let people enjoy the game in the way they want to play.
They want to solve things fast? Why it concernes you that don't want to trade? Why it concernes you playing SSF?
What you need to fight is for your mode to be better, not to change what others consider a valid way to play.

Also, there are already a lot of thinking and discussion about how trade works.
This doesn't mean that people want to remove trade. They just want it to change.
And this is a really serious discussion that could break the game if they don't do it right.

People love to talk about Last Epoch (and I'm mentioning them because they are dealing with trade in a different way) but here we are, Last Epoch still not being able to hold its playerbase after a new league. Meaning, people praise and praise the game, but aren't playing it.
why is it that every game with optional no-trade characters ends up with no-trade elitists who cant shut up about it? OSRS had the same thing with Ironmen, insisting that the main game mode was bad for itself.

Most people with jobs do not have the time for SSF if their ambitions are to get late into the endgame. People that have time for SSF and desire to play it are fortunate to have that option. I'm pretty sure the numbers would show that most people are not interested in playing that way.

If you really wanted to fix this game's trade problem, you would
A) fix the trade system itself
B) get rid of RMT / gold farmers / bots ?

NOT force everyone to play SSF. ridiculous idea
I dont find anything fun in trading so i play only with self found items. I do use currency exchange to get crafting material. But i think the problem is with loot... so hard to really find any upgrades in end game. Also crafting is such rng fest that it also need to be reworked.
The whole of this gaming community is damaged by trade.

Holy moly every single thread it is YOU legion of elitists that can't wrap your heads around the damage done to this game.

You have no concept of how much better your time would be in this game if you could not ruin your experience at the auction.

You can't fathom how that "tedious grind" to get to end game would actually matter, and that end game itself would be more enjoyable.

Everyone thinks that the game doesn't start till you're in tier 10+ late game because any goofball can hop into the auction house and just conjure quality loot out of thin air.

Then the rest of your gaming experience is tiny tiny upgrades as you nickle your way upwards.

It's aweful, and you have no idea how much its ruined your enjoyment of the game.

This is why we don't give kids candy every time they want it. If you just let them have what they want, and don't be an elitist candy person, all the kids could have all the candy and everyone would be oh so happy. It rots their teath, makes the fat and lazy, and right out of the gate the only thing they'll settle for is more and more candy.

You can ruin someone's life just giving them that full, indulgent thing they kick and scream for.

Why even trade? Let's just make a big fat red button that maxes all your stats and makes you do 99999 damage.

Like why even play an ARPG if you're just going to copy a build guide and press the easy mode button?
Honestly, the simplest way in the world to fix the rift between trade and SSF players is to simply enable positive buffs in private leagues. They'll even make money doing it...

You sounded exactly like Rod Fergusson.
Almost like a direct quote from something he said once...

How is Diablo IV doing?

My pal, my guy, my mate, my buddy...
Your mistake is common among a lot of PoE1 players: You believe SSF is a viable mode on its own and not what GGG intended it to be, which is a challenge mode.

The game is designed fundamentally from the ground up to encourage trading. Some of the best items in the game are intentionally made rare to inflate market value, nothing more. By playing SSF, you're doing the equivalent of shooting yourself in the foot by opting out of a foundational game mechanic.

GGG did not, and unfortunately probably will not, balance SSF to be more fun for people who don't want their enjoyment dictated by the market.
PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.

Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build!

MFers found strength in their Afflictions. They became reliant on them. I am not so foolish.
