The game is in a good state actually

That's a massive problem. Using your boots from lvl 10 to maps is horrible, especially in an ARPG.
And it's not like only new ppl without PoE experience and/or lack of understanding don't get enough currency or ways to get item upgrades.
Even PoE veterans report this issue. That's abnormal.

I mean, ok. Sure. It would be nice if I swapped some items more regularly. But it doesn't really feel necessary? Especially doing it too often. It would just slow you down during leveling. For example, the boots had 15% ms. All other stats on those boots were irrelevant to me. If I found magic boots with only 20% movespeed, I would have equipped them. Certain slots are more important for leveling speed than others. Having a bit more life on gloves or a belt going from act 2 to 4 doesn't matter. Like, at all.

And compare this to PoE 1. You are using a lot more currency on items during the campaign. How often do you chaos your items during leveling on a league launch in PoE 1? They accomplished this goal.

A few more exalts during the campaign wouldn't hurt the game at all. Whether it's needed is a different topic apparently.

"
That you can get "keys" or whatever faster than it was in 0.1 changes not the fact that the progression is backwards.

How many people would actually fight the bosses if they weren't required for atlas points? I can tell you. Not many. Just like in PoE 1. Progress isn't backwards for what they want the game to be.

"
What is with crafting from the early levels until you have access to omens?

Idk? I'd do the same? Minus the omens. Let's say you want a +3 or +4 chaos spell skills wand which starts appearing at ilvl 55. I would pick up any and every wand I see that drops and check the vendors every level. Hope to see what I need. If I don't, reforge the wands I have. If you want better chances, you'd use ruins on white wands.

To clarify, I cleared the campaign on lightning spell sorc with +2 on a wand I found in act 3. The contender for worst dps in the game and it didn't need more than +2. Same goes for all other classes.

Like I'm not trying to say the game is easy (although it kinda is). But there's no need to stress this much over crafting items during leveling. Items you want to replace asap anyways.

"
That many companies mislead their players does not make it justifiable for GGG to do the same.

Idk, I don't see a point to discussing this. Did they setup a goal on Patreon? Or Kickstarter? If it's just MTX then it literally doesn't matter what they did or continue to do.

I spent a major part of the 2010s "supporting" RIOT while they kept ruining League year after year. Am I upset? Not really. They did what they wanted to do. What you should do is decide if you want to continue supporting them.

In PoE1, you can at least influence your items aside from pure gamba "crafting".
You need movement speed? Use an essence. Use a bench craft. Use the vendor recipe.
And that goes for basically anything.

In PoE1, you can fix your bad RNG; in PoE2, you have bad RNG and get soft-locked.

I mean, if you nerf the boss uniques/rewards into the ground so ppl don't want them, you have a point.

Nope. Having "+x Levels to Skills" is mainly strong for casters in the campaign.
If you are not a caster, the additional levels barely do anything for you, if the stats on your weapon (the damage) are ass.

But Riot did not day "Buying MTX will lead to this or that (improvement-wise). You just bought skins and expected Riot to keep the game running. That's it.
If Riot had said, "We will improve the graphics, actually balance the champions, improve the ranked system, give these champs new skins, etc.", but then, after years, doesn't do it, but instead just makes LoL2... I mean... if you are ok with...

You can never truly get soft-locked during the campaign unless you delete all your gems and gear. And even then you can always equip a two handed mace and autoattack mobs to clear. If people are struggling on the act 2 final boss they can farm Dreadnought to overlevel, outgear ect. You counter bad RNG by farming.

"

Bosses still have desirable drops, especially if you factor in corrupted outcomes.

If you are not a caster

Then you care about IPD or something else. Point is your gear is important but not that important that you can't go an act or two without new pieces.
I generally agree with the point that game is in a good state.
As long as you play in a certain way.
If you diverse from it just a little bit the issues become visible.

I try to shorten the post a little and cut quote points I think are "fine" rn

"
Campaign

I'm also on the fence about the complaint that zones are way too big. Act 3 is pushing it but no zone was actually too big. I'd be happier if they kept the zone size but increased the amount of landmarks which would point you where you needed to go.

The campaign bosses feel too weak atm. My sorc was struggling because my spells didn't do a lot of damage but the bosses themselves felt like sponges and attacking every 8 seconds. Ideally there would be more mechanics the bosses did to make the fight more engaging or the bosses would have less hp.

The campaign starts to feel very good. I replayed it without leveling gear 2 times now and changed my playstyle so i waste less resources and had 0 issues both times. Ziz's problems mostly coming down to him playing HC. He doesn't want to die and therefore needs to slam a lot more to be safer. I think a bit of grinding previous zones if you feel to unsafe isn't that bad and if there would be more balanced early game options for builds this would help negating this issue. Boss hp are fine as long as you have a decent, not op, build (3-5 minutes or less for smaller bosses) are reasonable. Feels like a scaling / build diversity problem again.

"
Mapping

Citadels are seemingly more rare than in 0.1, I'm not sure if this is intended but it doesn't seem like it is.

Unique maps are amazing and I'm looking forward to every one I see. The biggest issue is they are waaay too rare. Well, they are rare when you consider what the end game loop is. You clear a tower, apply tablets, clear maps in tower range and then move to the next tower. Realistically, in the endgame you're only finding new unique maps if you're actively looking for them which probably will never be the case. I'd maybe be ok with there being a tablet that added one unique map in range but not sure what they should do here tbh.

Unique maps seem fine rn. I get 1-3 close to towers often. They would feel less great if the appear to often. I often get the same maps though which doesn't feel that great and adds to my point.

"

League mechanics

Strongboxes changes are similar to the essence ones - overall good. The unique strongboxes, outside of the Valdo's one, don't feel that significant tbh so maybe something here should get buffed. The corrupted unique strongbox is literally worth a vaal orb most of the time and it doesn't really work the way they wanted to I think.

Unique strongboxes feel very nice in my opinion. Its always nice to find them especially early on. I think giving them a bigger vaaling twist might be nice too.

"
Crafting

First off, I think it's hilarious when people say they are ssf and then complain they don't have enough resources to craft. It's like if hardcore players complained they can't play their character after it died.

Crafting is better than 0.1. Crafting is not as strong or as easy as it is in PoE 1 and that is not bad. You definitely have tools to craft your gear and with enough tries you will get there. Recombinators are strong. Greater essences are decent but seemingly prio bad mods which isn't ideal. Most omens are super strong.

For me its not crafting itself. You can craft. But the state you can start crafting upgrades is so late into the game that it feels pointless to me. Also the chances for lower end items feel very bad as well, since you can't get the resources to craft with a bigger purpose. Its either all in or ex slam. Needs a more middle ground.
"

Loot

Loot feels fine right now. Genuinely. I am not memeing or rage-baiting. The most recent fubgun video radicalised me. I have nothing against him or how he plays the game, nor do I have anything against people with similar opinions to him

SSF should be possible to play without having to grind 10h a day to progress just a tiny bit over 1 week.

I felt hard stuck for a long time and gave up on it. I was always starved on everything no matter how much i tried to save up currency. I had no upgrades for 30+ hours after reaching Tier 10 maps. Even grinding myself up to T15 dying very often to random oneshots. The overal expierence was not fun. I then switched to trade with just selling stuff I found and without currency exchange I would have the same expierence. I traded my divines for exalts and Regals and If if want to start Juicing i'm still on a downward spiral using them. BEcause I get far less than 1ex a map. If you consider how many ex you need just to get a steady flow of usable (not even fully juiced maps). Its frustrating running 7 maps and getting 1ex at times because you only have non rarity/quantity maps and low rarity on gear which you can't swap out without bricking your defenses. This currently is in the top 5 of what feels frustrating in this game for me. I have overcome that point now but if I kept playing ssf I would have gave up a week ago.

"
Casters

Last personal complaint.

Casters feel bad. Just full stop. I'm talking primarily self casting. I had hoped self casting would be in a better place than in PoE 1. Nope. It's actually worse. Nerfing demonform and archmage was kinda silly since it's the only real way to scale spells.

I genuinely want to know how do they envision casters to be played. Triggers? Self cast? Mixing elements? Archmage? Idk.

And until I do, I can't really say what they should change to get there. (I hope it's not mixing elements, that would actually be the worst case scenario.)

There's also the issue of spells not working with eachother at all. For example warrior's have aftershocks, stuns, exerts. Tools to combo spells with. How am I supposed to combo Spark, Arc and Ball lightning? Hopefully this is fixed before 1.0.

It's not only casters. I found a Huntress playstyle which feels like its what they envisioned it to be played (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HEQxvpQR2MU). But the build only works in campaign no matter what I tried. It's a parry play style, Jump in and out and blast everything with explosive spear. But Explosive spear scaling is so bad later in the gtme that it has problems 1 or 2 shotting small white mobs with decent gear. Scaling bleed feels so much better. The melee options like Rapid assult feel like a joke compared to everything else. You can't parry any attacks or to little attacks on a lot of bosses to make that playstyle work. I tried other builds but they are not as engaging and a lot of spells need balance adjustments. I'm now leveling a dot litch which seem to be decently strong and is a build I wanted to play in 0.1 but didn't after finding chaos demon (Hexblast) Which only was good at aoe and had big struggles with bosses but still was viable if you where patient with stack building. Now Hexblast is not viable for that build anymore. I don't get this change at all.

You can. What you mean is, you can't get hard-locked.

So, how does that align with your "then ppl wouldn't do the bosses anymore"?

In PoE 1 I can do and fully spec into breach, legion, ritual, delirium, Jun, expedition, harvest and everything else I forgot to mention without ever interacting with them outside of maps. This isn't that big of an issue since PoE 1 is a massive game.

In PoE 2 they want bossing to be more important. They have made it so much easier to interact with bossing this patch with multiple attempts and more boss appearances. They want you to fight and kill bosses.

I can't see why this is bad. (Although I would've agreed in 0.1 when bosses were too rare.)

To make farming the "league mechanics" good, you want to have points in the "league mechanics"; to get the points, you need to kill the bosses; but to get to the bosses, you need to farm the "league mechanics" without points (until you kill the bosses).
If you don't see an issue there... idk...

I already replied to something similar but whatever.

How long do you think you should be required to grind to get an upgrade?
Because 10h a day for a week will get you a long long way, it wont be tiny progress.

Like how long do you think an average character should take from lvl 1 to nearly bis lvl 90+?

Idk what's the average played for people but it's probably 70-150h per character, depending on many factors. You don't need to finish your character in 7-15 days.

If you actually played for 100 hours you would get far regardless if it takes you a week or a month. I get that you want every play session to feel impactful and that you feel like you've progressed. But is that actually good?

You don't expect to see a full 6-pack after doing abs for 2 weeks. And I know this is a game. But fun doesn't have to equal fast progress. If you are consistent, you will make progress.

namely loot and build diversity

another pandemic is people who are still relatively new saying that everything is A-OK and they love the difficulty cause they haven't done like 300 maps yet and realized how old it gets to try and grind for items that aren't worth anything with mechanics that are tedious and repetative

Actually, I have done 100+ maps, maybe 200-300, somewhere in that ballpark. Same in 0.1.

But it is single player game, playing same builds and games gets old. Same is even more true in PoE1 and other ARPGs.

Did I play 100+ hours in 0.1? Yes. Did I play 100+ hours in 0.2? Yes. During next week am I going to quit until 0.3 or 0.4? Absolutely. I will probably play some RTS, DCCG or MMORPG games meanwhile. But fact that I am coming back to PoE2 means it is a good game.

When we were 8 year olds with playstation 1, we played good games when we wanted to play those games and not every week. You guys are just burning yourself out expecting same meal every day to taste good after 400 days.

Judging by Steamcharts there is roughly an equal amount of players in PoE2 and the "oh so godly" Last Epoch.

And... check LE in a week ))
