The xp loss are here to stay.
End of discussion.
=THREAD CLOSED=
Heh, you'd be surprised. Even GGG had to back down on single death maps from 0.1 because people flat out refused to play. Exp penalty in ubalanced poe environment is exactly same kind of problem. It's a matter of time, they will come to their senses after losing enough players to regression. Only unknown is what exactly are they considering enough.
No chance. Removing or lowering EXP loss would basically destroy the ladder aspect of the game entirely. Will never happen.
Seriously, every player needs to do one of three things:
a) Decide to compete in the ladder and actually put effort into reaching levels past 90.
b) Realize that levels past 90 are optional and provide almost no additional character power, so they can stop caring about EXP at this point.
c) Go play Animal Crossing instead.
Nah, instead we will continue giving our feedback about this clearly bad game design. Nobody cares about this imaginary ladder. They should just only enable exp loss in Ruthless and race events but have it disabled anywhere else, most average players don't even know that a ladder exists in this game lmao this ain't some e-sport its basically a singleplayer game with multiplayer features.

Nope. Luckily GGG is too smart to give into these nonsensical demands made by a small but vocal minority.
Pick A, B, or C. Those are your only options if you want to avoid a miserable endgame experience full of rage. /thread

a) So taking the number Jonathan mentioned for 0.2 from the Talkative Tri podcast into account, do you seriously try to tell people that everyone has to accommodate for the significantly less than 1% of players that want to compete on the ladder?
b) Sure, if GGG decides to remove the skill points 90+ gives.
c) Animal Crossing is an awesome game, maybe you should give it a try to calm your nerves a bit?

a) Yes. Those levels are optional. Demanding every Jim-Bob and their aunt should be able to reach level 100 is like asking for national soccer teams to be removed, because it's not fair that only 0.00000001% of the population get to compete in the world cup. You're only suffering because you refuse to acknowledge that those high levels aren't meant for you.
b) Why? Those skill points do not make or break any build and are not required for any content in the game.
c) My nerves are calm. I'm not the one raging and making absurd demands. Again, you can avoid all of the frustration just by realizing that lvl90+ is OPTIONAL.

a) Well, does the FIFA sell the World Cup as a product for every one to potentially enjoy? Or does it happen to be a competition for professionals? Almost feels like you're just scrambling for anything that makes your argument feel valid.
b) Removing XP loss does not break any competition as well, but somehow only that part of your "argument" seems to NOT be OPTIONAL...
c) Judging by the words and phrases you use: No, they're not.

a) You're not grasping the comparison. Everyone is free to play soccer but only the best get to play at the FIFA level. You know... almost like the highest achievements require skills, effort and dedication, while at the same time everyone can enjoy the full game without FIFA.
b) Removing EXP loss breaks the ladder aspect of the game, the only somewhat competitive element. If you can't see that you probably shouldn't be part of this conversation in the first place.
c) So being able to articulate coherent and logical arguments means I'm raging, but literally raging about EXP loss doesn't? :DDD

Sure, I don't get the comparison because otherwise your argument falls apart. Do you get paid for repeating the words "effort", "skill" and "dedication", or do you just repeat them hoping for the halo effect to kick in?
Removing XP loss does not break that aspect, there are other ways to achieve this.
And here we go, attacking me personally because you don't have anything worthwhile to say. You just repeat the same trite points, thinking they are arguments, and everyone not agreeing is "raging". Projection at it's finest. The smileys say everything. You just can't handle being disagreed with.
Anyway, you're pseudo-arguments and misleading comparisons start to bore me. I'm out, take care and have fun.

Right, forgot to accommodate for word-latching technique in this particular post, sorry. So, to clarify:
a) I am not against any kind of penalties in race events and private leagues, these are separate environment where all participants join specifically for flexing and bragging. As long as they are happy with it, let them have it.
While generic softcore trade league is NOT a race event and is not competitive. Because it doesn't have any playtime constraints or party/trade constraints. You can try to view all leagues as 4 months long race, but everyone can see you would be a minority in it. People drop from leagues after 3-4 weeks, some after 2 weeks already.
b) Extra passive points may or may not make a difference depending on build, but it was never the main point. The feel of losing 3 hours to 2 days worth of progress (depending on your playtime) to a single unexpected oneshot is just so, so terrible. 100% sure this feeling drove a mammoth amount of players away from poe.
c) Yep, that's what we all should do. Revenue drop would wake GGG up faster than any reasoning here:)
