" Super ironic, considering there are strong arguments for keeping exp loss the way it is, while there are no arguments against it outside of "I want to progress while being semi-afk and putting in no effort or investment whatsoever." I'm a heavy proponent of keeping exp loss. That doesn't mean I like it. But I recognize that it's good game design the way it is now. It provides the sense of chase for those higher levels, which is crucial for lasting endgame engagement. Of course there's a short "feels bad" moment when I die and lose some exp. That's the point. The game should reward smart and invested play while punishing lazy and overly aggressive play. |

" Due to the current game state smart and invested play not really rewarded: Ziz perfectly described it while communicating with Jonathan that even if he put all his effort in def - he still have a chance to be randomly oneshoted. It's nearly impossible to predict how to outsmart all different in-game scenarios. If you've got a bad luck with some random monster modifiers, void zones, bugs you could lost 20+ hours of smart play. The game already has a HC league, so why softcore players should be punished with xp penalty. Some players choose softcore to not lost a time that they are invested in the game, they already choose more lazy and aggressive play. The game is in EA, it's beta, so why developers shouldn't test removing xp penalty and how it's actually works, is it makes game economy better, is it increasing league lifespan, are players enjoy game more or less.
