Player power is so high that it is ruining the game. 1-button screen clear is BORING.

As someone who grew up with D1 and D2 this genre has become a complete charicature of what it once was.

GGGs idea of slowing down combat and making mobs hard is genuinely the answer, however they are also shooting themselves in the foot. Because if you look at endgame everything screams "clearspeed", "kill fast" and "zoom zoom zoom" at you. Whether that's league mechanics, pinnacle content or something as fundamental as loot.

Of course they should curbstomp these builds. But what remains after that? The reward structure of the game just doesn't properly work. You then play a much slower build and due to the nature of the game you will get a lot less rewards for content being much harder to best. You have 0 ways to reliable improve your gear outside of trade (again back to clearspeed and div/h). "Crafting" is a complete rng dogshit slot machine that yields 100 failures for one success.

People cry for these one-button builds because it's the only way to somewhat reliably ensure progression in this game via currency farming and trade. I have played SSF this season. At some point it's like hitting a brick wall in progression and it grinds to a complete halt.

The difference with POE 1 vs POE 2 on this subject is simple

It takes much more work, currency, and time to make a character like this in POE 1. In POE 2 you can make a 10d LS build that performs like a 200d build in POE 1.

The problem is the gear sucks, and monster health is low.

in POE 1, going to T12 maps (red maps) for the first time feels impactful, in POE 2 I essentially went from T1 to T15 almost right away. First ever playthrough

as usual it is a lightning build that is broken. The more I play and see builds that are dominant the more I am sure the problem is with the concept of how lightning works in game. Notice how rare (comparatively) an OP build is based on fire?



Same in POE 1 -- Lighting is where damage lives, has been that way for over a decade now.

In POE 1 there are/were still fire builds until recently... BUt they nuked everything except lightning
To me, this is why hardcore is the only fun experience left in the game. Without the threat of death at any moment, I really can't summon the motivation to care about the ability to wipe out entire maps + bosses with only my mouse buttons.

This can be solved with better balancing to reign in some of the upper-end damaging builds so that the progression during endgame feels more like the campaign.

I mean, when you see Lightning Spear in action, it's pretty clearly out of synch with other skills. There were a lot of nerfs spread around coming into this patch, and I didn't mind them so much initially, but after partying with a couple of LS characters, I'm really starting to resent them.

Was it really important to slow down Tempest Bell? I understand *why* Hammer of the Gods had the janky Glory mechanic added to it, but did that nerf need to be so severe?

Regardless, this whole "you don't have to play this way" argument isn't really relevant. If the game is built with these builds in mind, no other builds will be able to function. If it isn't, they will destabilize the economy, multiplayer, etc. The environment is affected by the way people play--and vice versa--and crazy skill combos that trivialize all content affect us all.

When i see this [Removed by Support] gameplay, i feel like i do something wrong in game. In fact the wrong thing is that i continue to play this joke game.

All the other weapons clear whole maps with one click and i try kill a pack of common monsters doing 2-3 clicks with my Crossbow that do almost 600 damage.

This is absolutely no balance. Spear is not the problem. [Removed by Support]

the funny thing is.. when you pick the gem and use the first time you say.. meeeh so under helming.. but as soon as you add frenzy charges generation and volt charges... something super simple.. its power skyrockets at a lol level.


Imho all chained lightning in game should have its damage drastically reduced after the chain.

This is the big elephant in the room for poe2 right now. Trying to follow the design concept they wanted while catering towards poe1 players who want to zoom around and play gacha resulted in this.

Proof of that is that breach is a main mechanic in the endgame and it wants you to one shot everything that remotely appears on screen as fast as possible. Not very different for every other endgame mechanic either


When they decided to split the game it was obvious they new this was impossible and they want to cater to different crowds with each game. The breach thing is just rushed work.. they got near their release data and as usual they vaslty overestimated their development speed. They had nothing to put in atlas, so they just copy pasted stuff from POE1 that obviously follow POE1 model.


For poe2 to work they need to redesign ALL these league mechanics . Breach delirium, rituals, ALL must be re thought under the lens of POE2.
1 button clear screen is what I benefit from. I'm not that good of a player..sadly =(

but im having fun though =)
