No, the guy that responded to you is completely right. You're not playing melee build. Exploding everything from 3 screens away and not needing to get within even 20 meters from the closest enemy is more ranged than a lot of ranged builds go.

There's a lot of mechanics, rare affixes and enemy/boss attacks that are dangerous only if you're in melee range and any ranged build completely outplays them by just being able to deal full damage from 20 meters away and at any point of the screen. And ranged characters usually are also more tanky, more mobile and deal more damage. So yeah, I think dev balance team doesn't have a single Warrior fan in it.

And I did play both. Switching to ranged build makes it so much easier to play. A lot of bosses straight up turn into a joke and can do nothing to you.


just so you know that ability is only ONE attack i use. the other rolling slam for example is point blank, with a very heavy stun component so the mob im standing right in front of CANT ATTACK BACK with very few exceptions.

the earthquake and its massive range is for when my screen is filled with 50 plus monsters, and since that IS GOING TO HAPPEN, you better have screen clear. once the trash is dead i point blank the rare mobs down. you craft a skill that fits the situation.

heres some examples:
A) a mob that has a ranged attack that is going to kill me needs to die NOW. i use shield charge (movement skill) to cover the gap and take it out.

B) i am facing a very tanky rare with regen, use the support skill that stops regen and the skill that breaks armor (utility).

C) i have a dangerous rare or medium pack of 10 or less i use rolling slam with a big stun added and support skills that keep me healed. if i dont get one shot i can stand there all day right in its face.

D) for massive packs i use a combination of 3 things, a shout to empower my earth quake with a herald to blow all the TRASH up.

look you can either learn how to make a good melee build or you can continue to live in denial.and just in case the next questions are asked....

i did not follow a guide. i learned the hard way what works and what doesnt.
i dont have a bazillion divines worth of gear.

p.s. bossing is its own can of worms it pays to know which ones are very dangerous.

You need all of this to make it somewhat work and survive, while ranged build needs one button and has better clear than you, more damage than you, better survivability than you and runs faster than you on top of it. You literally proven my point.

Pay attention, I didn't say anywhere that melee is impossible to play or not viable. I myself spent 300 hours this league alone on my Smith and the only content left is beating T4 arbiter. But compared to pretty much any ranged build, melee feels massively inferior in every way. Everything I can do with my Rolling Slam, ranged build can do easier, better and with 10 times lesser budget.

If you want to play some niche off-meta build that isn't the strongest, but fun to you, good for you, i have nothing against. But please, don't advocate for relegating entirety of melee into this category.

dude i never glorified anything.
you know why i wrote it was my own build, because if i hadn't, somebody out there would claim i was just following some min maxxed build guide that exploits some broken mechanic.

your trying so hard to frame everything so its favors your personal bias.
maybe you had a hard time getting it to work. maybe you don't like the melee play style. that's fine, you do you. but the various claims that melee is a bad place relative to other classes is patently false.

melee warrior the last time i checked was #1 on the hardcore chart. it may have shifted since then.
IMO the perceived idea that melee is inherently bad is rooted in what other games offer melee to be, not what POE offers it up as. Most games relegate their melee classes to smooth-brain hack and slash mechanics where you can just tank damage all day and run around with one or two "spin to win" moves. I think most people just come into it expecting that experience, and are turned off by the fact that the warrior isn't some hulking giant that can walk through mobs with ease like other games.

Unless they turned warrior into some class where you can go "Me take big stick. Me smash all the things" most people will not be happy with it. I genuinely had fun with warrior in the last league, but you have to embrace the idea that you're not going to just run and around bonking stuff on the head forever. It still requires thought and a good build with solid synergy in other skills that aren't a direct face-to-face hit.

all they need to do, is to change this developing team, they are failing all way...

they did ruined game enough.

more than 1000 hours with Warriors, and the

1st step would be improve armor and defenses for melee,

2 improved life leech (if possible with life leech from elemental damage too).

3rd would be nice to get back the Hammer, not this atrocity done with this glory BS.

4th more HP in passive tree (% or flat would help)

these things would improve melee gameplay a lot.
