Abyss Rare Monster Modifiers can't be beaten by melee as it drains Life and prevents healing
A rare Abyss modifier prevents player healing AND it drains them of life.

Oh don't worry, it's even a problem for Ranged if the Abyssal spawns with Shroud Walker modifier. They will just teleport onto you if you kite them. I am not sure what the degen aura name is by the way - the announcement describes "Soul Siphoner" but even abyssals without Soul Siphoner can do this.

Funny you should mention said combo..... It was the cause of my last death, I ran away to heal a bit and then...... teleports behind me and we all know what it said :D

It's desecrated ground. It's not even a combo. Shade Walker simply comes with it, which is the abyssal version of Shroud Walker. And a few other things cause desecrated ground too.

This had gotta be, hands down, the worst bit of game design that i've ever come across. In a game with HardCore options, and some of the "best loot" hidden behind killing these monsters the FIRST time (you don't get a 2nd chance in the Abyssal Depths), they need to institute some way to counteract this mechanic and the VERY least. Not just rely on GET GUD scrub and one-shot them.
It's honestly stuff like this that makes me want to leave the game entirely |

+1 remove/nerf this, its insane could literally kill in two seconds. cant strategically retreat and reengage. i can see why ppl are complaining about abyss, if you ran into these rares with degen/contant 2sec teleport, your run is over or at the least takes away a portal and then you go in and avoid the pack entirely lol. wonder who came up with this at GGG.
