Is the fight over XP Loss lost?
The problem is not the XP Lost, is the crappy XP gain after lvl 90.
Even with the XP reduction omen, you will need several hours of juicy maps (lost in any of the several DCs) to just to gather 2.5% for the level and will be erased by any unlucky strike in a second letting you clueless of what happened. Soul like experience as the diehards say? no, in any souls once you miss the rune runback, you're not punished anymore and you're always well rewarded after killing a boss, it's an insult to call "souls like" this pile of shameful code. I'm ok with the XP loss if the XP gain is in a normal curve and you are well rewarded for your efforts, not the absurd and silly PoE's five sticks for each carrot. Not to say the skill and class balances to keep "The Vision" alive that will get you seated not able to level anymore with your preferred character because you're forced to play with the LS of the moment. This game is totally wrong at this moment, and I fear that "The Vision" wont let them fix it. |

" No, it is definitely a problem that one death in a map means you lose the progress of the prior twenty or thirty maps. If there is no xp loss. It will be worth it to corpse rush to 96 or 97 or whatever.

I completely agree with what OP has said, especially like the idea of XP loss tied to the quality of the map. Definitely the best compromise I've seen.
The XP loss subject is definitely something that many ppl have an opinion on. I've been lurking on the forums reading various posts without commenting and seen a few a week pop up about XP loss so I would say its definitely in the top 5 of most posted about subjects. Its been interesting reading various ppl's opinions, those for and those against any change to XP loss. To those who have said it needs changing, right there with you as I've posted various things on other posts essentially saying it needs changing. To those against changing xp loss I have a couple of points. Firstly this is POE 2 not POE 1.. POE 1 will always be POE 1 and should never ever change. POE 2 should be an evolution of POE 1 keeping the soul of the first and leaving things that are outdated behind, with improvements or outright removal of things GGG deem redundant or not needed, you get the idea. Now is the ideal time for GGG to read the room while in early access. my 2nd point before I go back to lurking is this. A few times I've seen ppl say things like "this isn't the game for filthy casuals" and "casuals should go play hello kitty space adventures". Us casuals have money, money we'd like to spend on this game because we enjoy it and without us casuals most F2P games with MTX stores would go the way of the dodo very quickly. We're just gamers with responsibilities and cant no life a game as much as some people can. The more people the game appeals to the healthier GGG is and the longer the games we enjoy wwill be around. IMO changing XP loss would go a long way to appealing to more people and if it could be done in a way where both parties are happy even better. |

I also like the xp loss in principal.
But as already said by others, only if its fair. For me (only my opinion) its fair to to be ohk to boss mechanics even with decent gear as you can learn them and animation ITs also fair to be ohk (even with decent gear) for some monsters if - you can see them and they dont kill you from out of screen (like tree guys and 2 hand weapon azok) and get a time larger than 0 to react - the animation comes before the dmg not after (like sometimes meteors) and you have larger time than -1 sec (hrhr) - they do not jump as a horde from outside of screen into your face and all hack at once. here you actually have 0,5 seconds to react, but while hit you cant move anyway All this and other stuff of similar inbalances leads to the fact that even with decent gear and game experience gaining lvls above 90 can only be done if - you creep snail like over the map. (e.g. like 1 step forth 2back, shoot, repeat) - directly close maps with certain monster classes - have a reeeeaaaaally high frsutration limit - have shear luck (like not have the above monsters on the map) For me personally all these solutions to help lvling above 90 are against what makes fun out of poe2 for me. OTher woirking solutions are welcome :P |

XP Penalty will be removed not directly in the game in the future.
Actual state of this game has no logical business sense (well this is still beta) I am almost sure that Tencent will "introduce" special currency which you will buy in official shop for XP penalty (one time use). |

yea im at lvl 83 . get to 43 % of my xp , die 3x lose all xp . it really feels pointless to continue playing with no progresion . why play if you dont progress your character ? im pretty much maxed for items for reasonable amount of money , i cant get upgrades unless its dozens of divs . the only way for me to gain power is levels and i cant get that so why play ?
pretty much when i log in to play i have 0 % xp do like 3-4 maps and i log off with 0% xp xp loss schould get removed to retain players , far more stop playing because they cant make progress you cant make money off people that dont play your game :) same with my friend 最後に AGMIN#1765 が 2025/05/05 15:10:23 に編集
