Is the fight over XP Loss lost?
I think a lot of people are misunderstanding my original post and i am sorry if i didn't make it clearer.
I am not saying that XP Loss has to be removed completely. What i am saying is that there is a way to make everybody happy by giving players choice. I listed several ways as suggestions on how to do this. I do not know which is the best way but i do know this is early access and therefore the ideal time to try something out. I do not think that the devs don't care. They have shown over the years that they do listen to feedback and i absolutely believe that they play the game themselves and genuinely want to make a great ARPG. I think it was Jonathan who literally said in an interview that nothing is completely off the table design wise. But i can imagine that it is difficult to handle feedback when it is coming from so many different players through so many different channels with so many different views all at once. Again i am convinced there is a compromise that works for everyone. All it needs is awareness (by the devs) and an open mind to allow different opinions and ways to enjoy the game by everybody. |

I've got over 700 hours under my belt now, and I also find the 10% penalty pretty harsh — I'm only playing with Omens now.
I think the 2.5% loss is manageable. 90% of my deaths are usually my own fault: Wrong mods, Too fast, Leroy Jenkins style :-) But I can live with 2.5%. |

playing 1 map drops 3-5 maps typically on average. and this is without super juice.

Exp stealing is not practiced in the tutorial. Stop practicing exp stealing in the maps.

" Yeah, not quite... And that's putting it lightly because i'd say those are completely different mechanics / types of game. And it's not even about getting to your corpse to earn back xp. Biggest difference is souls game have 0 RNG: fixed monsters, fixed gear. Anyway, XP loss is a terrible mechanic, one of the worst in what is otherwise an absolutely fantastic game (and that comes from someone who has 100% every fromsoft since 2010, to get back to the original point) | |
