LMAO, you think that GGG wants it's players to scale down to healthy playtimes or go play other games after a week?

Their MTX sales depend on player retention, no engaged playerbase=no money.

That's why you will never catch a dev talking about what is a healthy playtime in this model of monetization.

YES THEY DO! They want people that pay by impulse but do not stay playing for long spending their server costs! And YEs a good server costs a LOT of money!

The perfect client for them is the one that buys by impulse catchy microtransactions, play for 1 week and do not login again until next microtransactions batch arrives!

We're super late into the league, even people who love the game will move on to something else until 0.3

Clowns.

People started moving on 2-3 weeks into the league, get real.

yes but it is hard to separate the bunch that moved because 2-3 weks is enough for them. I for once never play a game that long. I have more than 900 games on steam. I do not play a game for more than 7-10 days before moving to something else until new content arrives.

Different demographics than YOU exist and hint, there is a good chance they are the majority of humans!

no.. this is just being a normal human, inside the normal curve of behavior.
This thread... wow. I can almost hear Jonathan saying "well, I'd have to know exactly the specific monster and the specific encounter in the specific tile set and the specific pixel in question and make a tiny adjustment to the specific skill and specific support gem using the specific mechanic..."

At some point a few weeks ago I just started asking why I'm spending so much time on "discount Elden Ring the failed non-Action RPG" and quit out. Glad I did. This thread is indicative of a passionate group of players that are going through a break up.

It's hard to watch.
1k hours in 0.1.0. Played till 0.2.0 act 3 cruel and gave up.

The game didn't feel right. I wanted to play a sorcerer again, but there was no viable spec to play( doing 1/10 of the old dmg is not cool). I do like the warrior archetype but I don't think poe2 got it right ( like d3 did). Monk was nerfed to the ground. Amazon gameplay felt off. Crossbows were buffed( although I wasn't super hyped about them) but gave up playing a hype class and tried a crossbow witch-hunter.

Unfortunately I did not really dig the grenade gameplay. There was something really off with the delayed grenade dmg, it never really felt satisfying or just right. I was never sure how to play optimally, when my grenades would go off, how to do the most dmg, how to target them properly vs fast moving targets( during early 0.2.0 monsters were fast and all- over the place.

White mobs would take time to die, but it was sort of okish due to buffed crossbows. What was not ok, was being unable to get any currency for crafting. I counted less than 5 regals up till the point I stopped ( act 3 cruel). I was under the impression that loot was buffed in 0.1.0 but it seemed like that change was reverted.. What a weird decision. I kept grinding though( with little enjoyment) and was hoping for things to pick up during maps.

And then...clinging to my last bit of hope for some revelation of gameplay improvement, I ran into videos and posts of streamers that play the game for a living. Everyone was mostly negative and I was saddened to discover that there were complains about the endgame as well.

Very few viable specs, very little loot drops, quantity gutted, extra mods on rares gutted, breaches giga nerfed. Everything that I enjoyed in 0.1.0 endgame nerfed /removed. Who wanted this and thought these would be good changes? Developers seemed like they didn't play their own game.

Maps were still too large and hard to navigate, and developer post suggesting to add even more way points seemed like a troll. It shattered the impression most people had, that the game is not in a great shape right now but will improve in the future because the developers are super experienced in the genre. The impression now was, that the developers don't play their own game, and unfortunately don't have a clue what players want or do not care. And in my opinion this perception is very hard to reverse.

I contemplated coming back but thought better of it. I do not trust the developers or their ability to fix their game . I assume I'm not alone here. I did pay around 80e for various tabs, but I just don't enjoy the game anymore. Which brings me finally to my biggest Poe2 problem that also no
one seems to be talking about:

What is the purpose of the endgame? I'm incentivized to make a good spec /character and farm the endgame efficiently. Ok so far so good. I'm spending countless hours getting those mirror items ( because for some reason I cannot craft them for the life of me) in order to become stronger and farm even faster so I can farm more of those mirror items in order to become stronger and farm even faster and so on. It's circular and self-defeating. There is no real point in this and its basically a waste of time. I do not have a real endgame goal, some sort of plan to put those giga-BIS items in use. Some sort of challenge/competition and some sort of permanent reward for the season. Where are those things? Sure there is an EXP ladder, but imho this is strictly time-based and dull. There needs to be something else. Or game will fall back into this fake endgame farming loop. Which is unbearably boring and ultimately the game-killer for me.

I never said that.. but seems you did not even cared to read or understand the basic math. My statement is that you cannot really say how many players gave up from the game versus how many scaled down to HEALTHY playing time. No You cannot. Only GGG with logs on each account that logs in knows it.

Oh yea, absolutely.. if there's one thing gamers are known for it's limiting their game time each week, especially on weekends.

Hey while I've got your attention I've got some ocean front property on Luna and you would be the perfect buyer, I'll cut you a great deal!

Again. normal sane adults do that. If you are not one or do not have those in your social circle than You are the one with a problem.

Get a wife and see it for yuourself.. yes she will not care if you play a whole weekend when they release a game you love.. but she will kill you if you do not stop doing that after 2-3 weeks.
