How hard do you guys go on armor, what is the max armor you've achieved that feels useless?

Not trying to be snarky I'm trying to understand why everyone thinks armor does nothing.

You say that armor is just instant hit one kill, but that's likely because you don't have enough armor!

I've got crap items and I'm able to get to 40k armor when i'm in the thick of fights. I've got 1.8k life.

I also have skills that double my armor vs crits and cause me to take only 50% crit extra damage.

This makes it so that I can get something around 70+% damage mitigation vs one shot hits.

That is CRAZY strong.

And you guys always frame these arguments selectively without telling the whole story.

Those MASSIVE one hit kills, generally don't come in waves of hits like magic does.

So if you CAN survive that one hit, you're usually in the clear as there is rarely any follow up.

You guys consistently brush off defense as being COMPLETELY innefective and that it does nothing.

I don't think you guys know how to properly build towards crit hits, and mass armor ramp ups and choosing a high armor shield or breastplate to really commit to getting every bit of armor off of.

I can unequivically tell you that armor is amazing, I have built my entire build around it and because of other talents all i need is a bit of fire resist and chaos resist and I AM TANKY AS FUCK.

Between a shield blocking all forward damage, blocking over 50% of side damage, easily gained max resists I am able to get REALLY far into the game as a total noob who has no idea what i'm doing.

And my gear IS SHIT.

I dont have the exact numbers but the system behind the mitigation of physical damage is like: you have 40k armor and get hit for 10k damage you get hit for lets say 8k damage. Then you push your armor up to 80k and get hit with 10k damage, you still take like 7.5k damage. So youll prolly need like millions of armor to be in somewhat of a safe place. So even if the 10k damage was a crit, youll defend with 160k armor and still take lets say like 7k damage xD

Against small hits - armor is great because it mitigates almost everything. But anything above that will just kill you.

It's been discussed and lied about and then those lies spread because people would rather cry about being one hit than try to find solutions!

I can see the game with my own two eyes. I take big melee hits ALL THE TIME and live through them.

I'm not getting hit for 100k damage because I never die in one hit.

I just checked Krips video that caused all this commotion in the first place.

This is the famous video that started all this BS. Kripp says 20k is the highest armor achievable, but that is incredibly lowballing it.

One I get better gear and more talents and optimize this build I fully expect to have 100K+ and have SUBSTANTIAL melee resist even in the late game
I'm ALREADY getting 40k and my geear is ASS.

I am sick and tired of this community feeding off lies and BS to feed their anger of this game.

It is getting REDICULOUS.

I am telling you, as someone with a boatload of armor that NEVER gets one shotted by melee unless it's an UBER boss with an easily dodged attack that I take face on like an idiot and desrve to die, and even then I often survive.
