Omen of Amelioration and XP loss threads.

I second this thread. In 0.1 I didn't know about OoA and dying felt really bad. Now I always have an omen active and the rare occasional death doesn't matter at all anymore.

Look, lets use your numbers even though they might have some bias.

If you need 7 maps to level up, it means a map would give you ~14%. Thus, you can regain 10% in around ~70% of a map. Lets say, you can clear a map in what? 8 min in average? Those 10% XP would be like a little bit than 5 min and a half of gameplay.

How often are you dying for those 5min and a half to bother you?

I mean, sorry if it sounds elitist but I can't see how it can be a problem, seriously. I can understand people complaining on higher lvl, when they would lost hours of progress, but 5 min? Come on...

edit: And I'm not even considering the Omen. It would reduce that 5 min and a half o a little more than a minute

At that tier of maps, there are no omens for XP loss. I've probably done close to a hundred maps, I've seen maybe 4 or 5 omens, total.
Speaking of numbers, you're probably very optimistic in terms of how fast I clear maps. But it doesn't even matter.
Losing progress just FEELS terrible. Every time. Especially after a campaign that doesn't have it.

It doesn't have level restriction to spawn. You can find them since T1. It can be debatable how rare they are, but choosing to play on SSF and complaining about how hard is to find something doesn't make any sense. It was your choice after all.

And if you've seen "only 4 or 5 omens (any kind)" in 100 maps, that just means that you are skipping ritual encounters. It is garantee that at least one would spawn.

That Omen is pretty cheap on trade league though, so it wouldn't be a problem for most players.

Regardless, as I said, your rant sounds exagerated even without the Omen at that level.

My point, really. Complete lack of empathy. Can't consider people play the game differently. Can't realize people have had different experiences in a game that relies so heavily on random elements.

I've made my point. I think the game has immense potential. I don't tend to argue with strangers on the Internet because it's mostly pointless, the fact I'm doing it shows I care. I think GGG needs to work on onboarding more smoothly casual into the endgame. I believe XP loss is an aspect of it. Hopefully, with enough of those thread, it will improve :)

Everyone started using them, we're 2 months in the league, they're still 8ex.

People ARE using them, you're not. And that's on you and you only. (not YOU YOU, hypothetically speaking on your depicted point)



If you refuse to use what the game gives you to solve problems, then you can't be taken seriously at pointing such problems.

I'm sorry but saying "not 100%, only 75%" just proves that you don't know what you're talking about and never really used the item, and haven't even climbed high enough in levels to know just how good that 75% is for a measly price of 8ex. Heck they were worth it at 70ex back in 0.1 when they were actually rare and they're even better now for way cheaper.

XP loss as some sort of skill rubric or retention mechanism is absolutely bogus.

The fact that I dont lose xp on death in other games (which I wont mention here but you all know which one I'm talking about) doesn't make me want to quit or think its pointless. The fun is in the item hunt and its nice that when i take a chance and pay the price that I only lose the loot on the map and the rewards for completion instead of HOURS of progress.

Heck, I even paused my main (Bladedancer) at level 96 to go play an alt for a bit (Beastmaster) and I'm really enjoying the difference in playstyles. I may never hit 100 on my Bladedancer but at least i'm not being punished for exploring and experimenting.

Not having to deal with one-shot mechanics every 2 seconds helps as well.

Something has to change; if they want to keep xp death penalties, they need to ease up on one shot mechanics and fix the xp curve after 90 with the current content. This is not up for debate or discussion, its a simple fact.

SOMETHING has to change.

In the game you're talking about ladder is meaningless and mostly boosted. And that's 200% on the opposite side of what GGG wants because there's races, trophies and rewards for reaching top places in ladders.



XP curve is fine and you have omens to deal with xp loss. I can get behind some unfair mechanics that kill you, but that's not a problem with XP loss.

There's almost no difference in power between a lvl 95 passive tree and a lvl 100 one. You don't need to hit 100 unless you're striving to compete in ladder. Which would be meaningless without XP loss. It all comes together in a nice circle, with a few irregularities.


I will say this 1000 times over. Dying with an omen at lvl 95 is a 2% that you can get in a single well juiced breach.

If you're telling me you cannot progress your XP at a 2% loss per deat for 8ex at level 95 then that means you're literally dying at least once per map at t15s. If this is happening to you, XP loss is not the problem, your build is.



I cannot stress enough just how important it is to go about this matter with actual numbers.
