GET RID OF XP LOSS! Not fun at all, bad game design!

However, the constant penalties for not following strict meta builds made the experience feel restrictive and frustrating.

Stop with this nonsense. You don't need meta build to enjoy endgame. You just need build that is not shit.

If you're going to continue not reading my responses, I'll just have to stop responding to you, because it feels intentional at this point. Not sure what I did to deserve this treatment from you.

It's funny that a lot of people treat you like that but it's always other people's fault, never yours. You are truly unlucky to be targeted like that for no reasons whatsoever !

First, it takes XP. Second, it forces me to farm another waystone, which is both frustrating and demoralizing.

Just pick right nodes in you Atlas tree + a bit of Rarity on gear and you'll be swimming in waystones in no time.

Yet another example of the type of player who spends all their time in the game and can’t seem to grasp that it’s just a game. Some of us want to enjoy it, not constantly deal with frustration. Thanks for the advice, bud. Pick the right nodes and rarity, lol. This only reinforces the points I made earlier. Take a moment to read it and maybe you’ll understand.

Yup pretty much
Mash the clean
As one very high profile youtuber has stated this is the POE 2 is comparable to POE 1 ruthless. People hated that. POE 1 is punishing enough.

I would like to clarify I thought xp loss was a % of progress in the current level, but from experience it looks like it is much more than this. I just dies with 2 bars at level 84, went down to 1/2 bar which is 75%.

If GGG want 100 to be an achievement, make the last 2-5 levels have exp. loss. That way people get their build up to power and then it comes about skill not just grind.

It has thrived as a game design for 12 years it's not going anywhere.

By focusing only on hardcore players, they miss the opportunity to appeal to a much broader audience. Adding something as simple as a Casual League could significantly increase their player base. While the hardcore community might remain loyal over time, a Casual League would attract a wider range of players and boost retention for those who prefer a less punishing experience.

Many of my friends, including myself, stopped playing PoE1 due to the XP loss and extremely punishing mechanics. The complexity of the game was not the issue; we enjoyed that. However, the constant penalties for not following strict meta builds made the experience feel restrictive and frustrating.

In my group of friends, who are all experienced gamers, fewer than 20 percent continued playing PoE1. The rest of us quit for the same reasons. Excessive penalties and the lack of freedom to experiment drove us away. This is something the developers should seriously consider for the future.

It's pretty easy to tell how many players they lose too. And for what reasons, by taking a good look at the achievements on steam. Even the reviews are telling.

Vast majority of players never even hit level 70. Most are quitting by the time you get to Act 5 or so in PoE 1. It's very clear that there's a huge casual playerbase, but they're quitting for various reasons.

I know for a fact one is the forced economy, and the fact that it makes loot very bad. And another is mechanics like this, that start making you lose XP on death. There's other reasons too. Like the complexity of the game. How bad the experience is on the trade site.

Yes, that’s true, but some of us pass that filter because I actually enjoy a complex game. PoE offers a lot of that, but unfortunately, it doesn’t allow me to fully enjoy it due to punishing mechanics like XP loss. I’m fine with challenge, difficulty, and complexity, but cheap shots, frustrating deaths, and punishments that waste my time are where I draw the line.

Sorry but this is how it is. PoE is full of obstacles. You either overcome them or leave but no one will remove those obstacles in order to make your way to the top easier or faster. Like in real life. Dealt with it.

You are free to point out the Area's where I'm the problem in the messages I wrote. I'll wait.

Yup, my favorite parts of the game are the complexity that skill tree's and skill gems and all the uniques and item interactions did. I love that complexity.

I agree with all points you make. I too have no issues with a challenging game, or complex. I just really dislike mechanics that aim to pad player game time, and XP loss on death is one of those, and it's super frustrating to boot.

Hopefully they can add in a casual league for players to load up. I really do think it would probably boost player numbers for GGG another from 5% to 15% or so. Lots of people are looking for a good solid ARPG to play long-term, and casually.

This is true.
